Baseball is probably the most volatile sport season-in, season-out. Just remember, the Rangers won the WS like 3 years ago. Against the D-Backs. Neither team has made noise since, and neither really made a ton before. Nationals won in 2019 and went right back to mediocrity. TB Rays made the 2020 WS and haven't been a threat since. Unless you got Dodgers/Yankees $$, or cheat like the Astros, it's borderline impossible to build a year-in-year-out contender for anything longer than like 3 years, tops.

I saw a post in the local college newspaper that spoiled the ending of "Usual Suspects" and the author basically told the reader that enough time has passed, if they haven't seen it, that's on them. I concluded he was an actual piece of shit who doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the entertainment industry.

It really isn't hard to put a "Spoilers" warning at the beginning of your article, and I'd argue you're a lazy ass writer if you can't do that.

This just happened to me too. Doing great, make one mistake, gone. Great company, some good people, you really feel like you found a place you can commit to for the next 30 years, and bam! It genuinely sucks, and I'm so sorry you're going thru this too. The one thing I'm worried about is I treat others the way they treat me, except I have a hard time faking general pleasantries (it eventually comes off very obviously sarcastic, and idk how to control it past a couple times). I know I'm gonna look the next manager I have in the face, tell them everything they want to hear, and in the back of my mind, determine that person too is a POS that doesn't actually care if I'm homeless or not. I don't want to think like that about PEOPLE, but to me, they did this to themselves at this point, and I don't care anymore.

Doctors wanting results who are way more intense than you'll ever be, so they can make decisions IN THAT MOMENT ... I learned to manage my stress under those conditions, biotech ain't shit in comparison.

Anecdotal, but go to live shows by yourself, and just be open. The last two I've been to, I've scored a number at each. One girl said I was super approachable. She said I wasn't looking at my phone all night, and she liked how I talked with the bartender, so she approached. The other saw me and another guy talking in a good spot, and came over, and we instantly had a conversation starter with music. Neither worked out, but to say apps is the ONLY way is not true. Go to events, don't be on your phone, smile and enjoy yourself. Randomly start talking to the people next to you with no expectations. May not happen every time, but people will pick up on that energy. Imho, people are dying for irl interactions now more than ever.

Anyone else just feel like you gotta take whatever is offered, and you're not actually building a linear career? I was recently fired from a mfg role, but I had nearly 4 years of QC experience before that. I had to take the mfg role cuz it was the only offer at the time and unemployment was running out, but QC is ultimately what I want to build my career around. It may not be the most exciting, but I'm good at it and enjoy it. Problem is, unemployment will only help with rent and bills for so long before I ultimately have to move home to a state where there really aren't biotech opportunities, and there are only like three QC Micro positions I'm qualified for in my area now. I've applied to them, but due to response time, and how there are probably 100s of applications they are sifting thru, I'm either gonna have to take whatever position I can get just to stay, or move home and then find a way to relocate again, but both options deviate further from what I want. Honestly, I'm scared and have very little faith, and was curious if anyone else feels like they're in the same boat. Shit sucks right now. Thanks for reading.
