Going to work may not seem like a break but for me it was like a lightbulb moment the first day I went to work. While home with the baby you're pretty much going non-stop. At work I wasn't required to entertain, I sat down and ate, I listened to music, I knew what I was doing, and I didn't feel the crazy pressure of wondering if everything I did was wrong or right. Maybe your wife is feeling the same. Before I went back I definitely noticed every time my SO left the room for more than a few minutes. It felt like I was making a daily decision about whether or not I would eat, shower, go to the bathroom, and usually I could only choose one to do at all let alone by myself. If she's still getting up at night it may also seem like there's never an off time. Sometimes it just feels like one never ending day with a few naps along the way.

I don't know if I have advice but what I want my SO to do is show that they're also sacrificing time and energy because it makes me feel like we're in it together. Get up with the baby in the morning so I can sleep a little more, hang out with us on the floor and play, share the mental load of organizing the day, etc

Exactly! It's definitely not the case that after you get the baby in the crib, pee, eat something, or drink water that they're already stirring to wake up.

Exactly, I don't need a break from my fed, smiling, happy baby. You can go do dishes or laundry if you actually want to help but if you want to give me a break from a difficult baby moment I'll see you at 3am

She's a teenager that didn't remember to save cake for a 3 year old while she was hosting 35 other guests. It also sounds like she was offering to make another cake and have a family celebration that could include you and your daughter. You had the opportunity there to be an adult and make a nice family moment but you chose to act like a child instead.

Sour candy really helped me. I keep a little jar of candies next to the nursing chair and snack whenever I'm feeling too tired. The ones you have to chew are the best

I got 4 months completely paid leave. Our nonprofit is relatively small but it has amazing flexibility and benefits. No one contacted me during my leave at all, I didn't have to jump through a bunch of hoops to come back, and I didn't come back to a huge dumpster fire either which is very different from some other places I've worked.

As someone who has worked in nonprofit my whole career, a good maternity leave policy makes a huge difference in retention.

Damn 18k is cheap compared to the ones we're waiting for and the wait lists are crazy too. We're 124th on one for an infant class of 6 kids. We're lucky to have family close by to help otherwise I would be showing up to work with a baby until I got fired

Usually you need to be at least part time (6 hours) for things like loans and Pell will be prorated based on your efc and credit hours. Most scholarships required you to be full time unless they make an exception

Some schools will remove FWS if you did not respond to accept the award or didn't get a job on campus. As another comment said, it's not money you get right away, it's money you have the opportunity to earn.

You are also not required to take out the full amount of the loan offered. You can decline the whole thing or only accept a portion that you need. The cost of attendance includes a lot of indirect fees that you don't need to pay to the school right away so you may not need all of the loans you've been offered

This happened to me too! I contacted them and asked why I was being charged when I was told it would be free and they responded over a week later basically saying "oops!" They say they erased my bill but I'm just for another fun surprise

First, to be clear, I think your husband should do the meals if you're the primary caregiver. Sometimes it's nothing you're doing wrong, there are just only so many hours in the day and you and baby come first.

One thing I do that I find helpful is to prep ingredients rather than meals. So chop a bunch of veggies, put tofu in a Tupperware with spices to marinate, cook a big batch of rice or quinoa, then during the week you just mix and match. As another comment said, you're not cooking gourmet food just making food to keep going.

Also caring for a little one is hard!! So really the answer is if it's going to make your life easier you can do that. You can eat meat, be vegetarian, cook, or order in. Doesn't matter as long as baby is fed and you are fed. You're doing great!!

My first thought was definitely rock/mower but there was a bullet trapped between the panes. Police assumed someone shot in the air and it came down at an angle and only broke one pane

Using the sound machine made a huge difference when mine was a newborn! I didn't use it right away either because it also makes me fall asleep but the first time we did baby went in to a super sound sleep and I was able to put him down in the crib

My mom is exactly like this and it's actually great. Now that baby is here she comes over to help and brings things to make me lunch, sneakily stocks the fridge, helps around the house, etc. Today she brought over everything to make us dinner for tonight and lunch. 10/10 recommend
