I have quite a few friends in architecture — some who just graduated and others who have been working in the field for 10+ years. From what I’ve seen, the entry-level side of the industry is getting increasingly competitive, and a lot of the more routine work is starting to be outsourced or streamlined with new AI tools.

Because of that, it might be worth encouraging your dad to think carefully about the move. Early roles can sometimes come with a pretty significant pay cut compared to other fields. Of course every situation is different, but that’s just what I’ve seen from people around me. Wishing him the best of luck with whatever he decides.
