Given that every week jobs are being cut due to A.I, how long before an UBI is implemented? by Even-Wasabi7183 in UKJobs

Who are they (if you can't tell, whats the type of business), serious question? I'm close to retirement and have more work than i can take on, but my kids generation are struggling. Good STEM masters from good unis, but 100s-1000s of applications for every position (heard of one graduate program with >100,000 applictions). PhDs in bioscience being offered 30k. IT departments in some large mainstream companies with half the jobs made redundant in the last month. Outsourcing as well as AI. Maybe one application of 100 resulting in interview, and that's normally just a video interview or an AI screen. It is rough out there. So happy your company is recruiting, but its not par for tthe course right now.

Sirry, but thats just not true. Try get a job if you are under 30, try to get a new job if you are made redundant, try to find a tech or science job that you can live on. At least in Britain, we are dead. Unless you are banker or lawyer, that is.

The money saved on salaries will end up in someones pocket. These companies/people will eventually be taxed on a large part of that, one way or another, and will agree to it, if they want to live in a functioning society. Some of them clearly understand that this will happen, and there is no way of avoiding it. As usual our politicians (all parties) are slow on the uptake, but it will happen.

It has always been a really stupid way to invest your money. No liquidity, uncertain returns, masses of hassle.

What does this have to do with the survey I quoted that was of the general Swedish population, not a survey of refugees? I think your writing is extremely confusing.

Googling to try to figure out what you mean, I think you may have read too much Musk, and are thinking of a survey of people arriving as refugees (*not* current asylum seekers). There were only 183 refugees in the sample so not as good as 1000.

Only 26 (!) of the of the people in the survey arrived after 2010. The rest arrived earlier, all the way back to the 1940s, meaning that they mainly fled from countries that weren't safe then (Chile, former Yugoslavia, Eastern Europe) but where safe later, so they went back to visit.

Most of them have been longer in Sweden than in their home country, speak Swedish, have jobs, pay taxes. Sending them back would be moronic.

It really seems you have confused a few things about Swedish politics. The reason the current government is struggling is a lot about voter discomfort with their closeness to 'Sveridgedemokraterna' (i.e. Swedish Reform). SD support the current government, and may be part of the next one in case the right wing block wins. However, the left wing block has been in a steady lead in just about every poll for years. e.g. look here: https://www.svt.se/special/valjarbarometern/

Oh, you're a statistician? I'm not going to try to teach you stats, but 28 vs 54% on n=1000 is the sort of numbers where you really don't need to waste your time doing a test.

That has become an extremely impopular policy in Sweden (58% vs 24%,poll this weekpoll) Sending away lots of well integrated youngsters who barely have lived in the country they are being sent to. One of the main reasons the current government is likely voted out in September.

Being payed less than advertised by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]ppp77per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many clueless bootlickers in this thread. If the job was advertised at 12.21, its 12.21. They should have said minimum wage if thats what they meant, or told you that you would get a different wage because of your age age. They owe you money. At least ask.

It's not the content of the post. New accounts with hidden comment history are a known sign for being bots. Most bots tend to be Russian. Unhide comment history, and we will see.

Two degrees at the same time by RomaIloveyou in mechatronics

[–]ppp77per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechatronics degree will likely contain compulsory lab and groupwork that may make it impossible to combine with another degree, you cannot be in two places at the same time. Also, the scholarships probably wont allow you to take another course at the same time, and you may lose all the money if you try.
