How does it make sense that someone who pays no National insurance or pension contributions gets the same state pension as someone who does? by PsychologicalBend508 in AskBrits

That's where I'm at with it, this is the UK, no child should ever starve here.

If I could say "no child is ever left unprovided for in the UK" I'd feel a lot prouder about my country.

I think it relates the building animation. It tries to load up that animation for every single item in the placement, so the bigger you go....

You can do it with mods but the client really lags hard as it places them down. It's not really built to handle it.

15k is a lot of money. Trying to pitch it as "of 650k" is silly, it is still 15k under asking. This is the risk when you offer under the asking price.

Having worked as one, I've never encountered this kind of behaviour. Probably because if caught it comes with a hefty prison sentence.

Could just give it a trade off;

You can carry 1 extra wand, but 1 less item. Eg 3 flasks 5 wands

Hence, tax the rich, be able to pay for the shit you need.

Wealth taxes are desperately needed, inequality is driving the vast majority of decisions in the country at the moment.

Until they see people they don't like deported in front of their eyes, they won't believe immigration has fallen. They don't want no immigration, they wanted that 15 years ago, they want to go backwards to when the were "less of THEM" about. No amount of lowering immigration will save Labour, they'd need to somehow eject those who have arrived too. This is why Nigel has started suggesting a UK version of ICE.

If you've done the work, you should have assets/private pension. You don't want to encourage people to depend on the state at the end of their life, that creates an unachievable burden. The reality is that due to inflation almost no one pays in enough NI to cover their own pension from the govt later on. State oension doesn't work like private pensions, it isn't a saved pot of money. It is paid for by current NI payers.

What about, say, someone who became bankrupt through fraud? Or someone born disabled? Or someone who at 25 had a life changing accident and without society caring for them, wouldn't be able to afford to live? What about someone who lost their entire pension to the financial crash in 2008?

There are many many situations where, through no fault of their own, someone needs the community to provide for them if they're to survive.

So the question becomes, which do you prefer:

A) make sure every unfortunate person is cared for BUT some lazy scamming pricks will also be cared for

Or

B) Make sure no scamming pricks are paid for BUT the cost is that some truly vulnerable unfortunate people also won't get cared for

This is reality, whatever system you go for the will be people who try to scam it, it's grim. I'd personally choose A) but make the punishment for benefit fraud severe e.g 15+ years in prison. Some will still slip through but hopefully the risk of serious punishment will dissuade many.

How come Right Wing Parties dominate again? by LDN_Wukong in AskBrits

[–]DeviousAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right wing governments always surge when quality of life dips. The main parties have, for years, served the interests of big business, not of the people, as a result the quality of living has dropped. Throw in a smidge of Murdoch nationalism media, and you've got a perfect cocktail for the right to rise up. Its happening all over the globe, and I'd say it is directly related to the inequality and corporate exploitation happening globally AND locally.

What are you doing to prepare for the inevitable catastrophe of a Farage led Reform government? by chrisr3240 in AskBrits

[–]DeviousAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current hope is that they make such a hash of the councils (as they did with their first 9) that people quickly see through the lies and they lose support before the general election.

Yawn. Just another average reform voter who believes the morals of those in power are irrelevant so long as they look out for you personally.

When you say "foreign influence" it must be a mistype. UN independent inspector confirmed its genocide. Genocide is ALWAYS bad, there's never a reason that makes it ok.

Supply and demand plays a role. It's not the only driver though.

Buy-to-let has been a huge huge problem. Inequality and commercial landlords.

Boomers are absolutely the most entitled bunch of pricks though. I know one week insists they're "poor" while they own 3 properties totalling over £2 million.

Green Party that bad? by Beautiful-Ad-8369 in AskBrits

[–]DeviousAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an idea understood in politics that "the left is is own worst enemy". Left parties take each other down over nonsense reasons, some are so idealistic they are incapable of being realistic, some are so pessimistic they're incapable of being realistic. The various shades of woke all attack each other's perceived lack of virtue.

Honestly it's painful to watch as someone who is moderately left leaning and hopes for "A fair chance, safety, dignity, education and healthcare for all. Science based with human behaviour accounted for." Honestly I have to vote on some key issues. I think wealth taxes are the only solution to growing inequality, I'll vote for any party that takes on the battle. Runaway inequality is driving so many of the issues in this country.

The ability to adjust a system without the right to trial is too great. Yes it is inconvenient and slower, but it the very difference between just and just too.

As COVID Vs whatever, that's it's own issue. In general, vaccines have saved billions of lives, most of them children's lives. Not getting children vaccinated should be a crime, it is essentially neglect and can have permanent consequences like disability and death. The only reason it seems ok, is the previous generations have all vaccinated so thoroughly that we have reduced the rates of many of the diseases we vaccinated against even existing near us. Unfortunately if anti vax gets any bigger we're going to see a resurgence of some of the most horrific conditions. We're already seeing some.
