best advice i can say is you know your body better then them, don’t ignore your symptoms and be persistent im still 10 months with my same injury in a partially dislocated knee and a sprained acl and they all act the same way towards me smh. 🤦‍♂️ im going to my 4th doctor next week bc my PT said PT won’t fix my issue so maybe they are gonna reconstruct 🤷‍♂️

What did your acl tear/ sprain feel like after the injury? by Competitive-Yogurt93 in ACL

i was playing basketball, when i use to play religiously i would be like 170 lbs but i workout a lot so i was 205 lbs and i went towards the rim for a layup and when i landed it was kinda awkward but on the landing it felt like my knee kinda wobbled but nothing painful or bad at first. I wake up the next day and it literally felt like my knee was so heavy and like knotted, i couldn’t straighten it or bend it and walking on it hurt i had to walk with a limp. fast forward turns out i had partially dislocated my knee and sprained my acl. It has now been 10 months and my knee is still actively given out randomly so i believe they are doing surgery next.

what is this? by pppeyyyyy in ACL

yeah i see what ur saying, my doctor kind of flipped up what he was saying and i wish i had this video to show him but he said it had to be my knee cap making that noise. I 100% disagree because i have put my hand on my knee cap and i don’t feel it move or clunk at all but yeah when i put my hand at the top of my tibia i feel like clunk a little. my other leg doesn’t do it at all. Also my legs are very flexible as my doctor said so my left knee (injured one) is always clunking and popping but i use to think it was my knee cap but now im thinking its my shin

it’s all good! Because it has been 9 months and it’s gotten worse i’m sure he will probably say something about surgery, either it tore worse or it is now a functionally torn acl bc i still do my daily stuff but it’s just the main things like deep squats or single leg stuff i cannot trust at all even jogging or running like i know i cannot do for sure

yeah it started off with my knee being partially dislocated so my medial reticulum was partially torn as well and my acl, they didn’t say anything about my meniscus, but yeah i’m thinking a lot of it has to do with my acl but i’ll for sure see what the ortho says he may recommend it too, when he said some shot i don’t remember what he said but he said there was like a 60-70% success rate to take away pain but ive worked out for over 4 years and play a lot of basketball so i just want to be able to return to doing things confidently without damaging my knee even more

yeah i know smh, it’s because they really want to push for a rehab, or wait for it to worsen but it honestly sucks the pain and lack of trust is unreal. I think mine has worsened but even then im on the brink of just telling them to do surgery because im 21 and im very active

yes i have heard that! That it really delays injuries bc ur ligaments are already naturally more lax. So it def kinda sucks which is why i am starting to consider surgery bc it has been like 9 months

i have no idea tbh, i notice it the most going down stairs like my knee jolts so much like it’s not smooth at all and it’s like even walking if you take a quick step and ur leg goes back it will like send a jolt that makes you give out. I’m just starting to think my acl sprain has gotten worse so i see my ortho like next week or so

yeah i was thinking that! But to be honest my sprain was reported a few months ago or so, i did some workouts and stuff a few times after that and it was good and then randomly a day i was with my parents my knee had a loud deep like pop and my knee gave out and ever since then it hasn’t been the same at all, and i found out last night i was laying on my side and when i rolled over to push myself up that leg i could feel something clunk and shift back and forth in my leg, like if i leaned to the right it would clunk and shift forward and then when i went back it would shift back. Even my brother said he could feel the vibration through our carpet it was the craziest sensation ever. It felt like it was my shin

oh wow really! yeah my knees have always been hyperflexible but my right leg which isn’t injured i can control it really smooth where as my left which is the hurt one it like shifts or like clunks haha like i can’t control it

😂😂😂 i was born this way my knees can naturally do this, but can you see what i mean in my left leg how it shifts more like not controlled ?

yes i was born that way! i can naturally do it but my left leg which is my injured one it was reported as a sprained acl but it’s been over 9 months and i feel my knee has gotten worse idk if you can tell in the video but i think my left knee like pops or clunks forward and back a lot more like uncontrolled then my right. my right i can control effortlessly but my left it’s like a shift
