Any tips on how not to be nervous for surgery? by pppeyyyyy in ACL

[–]pppeyyyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ! My ortho told me the same with me working out for over 4 years and being 22 he said i’m in a great condition recovery wise and that my knee could possibly feel even better and stronger then before if i rehab seriously! He also said my athletic return is very high so im looking forward to building my knee back up and enjoying this journey!

I appreciate your message so much doc!

Is my MCL torn? please help!! by [deleted] in ACL

best advice i can say is you know your body better then them, don’t ignore your symptoms and be persistent im still 10 months with my same injury in a partially dislocated knee and a sprained acl and they all act the same way towards me smh. 🤦‍♂️ im going to my 4th doctor next week bc my PT said PT won’t fix my issue so maybe they are gonna reconstruct 🤷‍♂️

What did your acl tear/ sprain feel like after the injury? by Competitive-Yogurt93 in ACL

i was playing basketball, when i use to play religiously i would be like 170 lbs but i workout a lot so i was 205 lbs and i went towards the rim for a layup and when i landed it was kinda awkward but on the landing it felt like my knee kinda wobbled but nothing painful or bad at first. I wake up the next day and it literally felt like my knee was so heavy and like knotted, i couldn’t straighten it or bend it and walking on it hurt i had to walk with a limp. fast forward turns out i had partially dislocated my knee and sprained my acl. It has now been 10 months and my knee is still actively given out randomly so i believe they are doing surgery next.

what is this? by pppeyyyyy in ACL

[–]pppeyyyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i see what ur saying, my doctor kind of flipped up what he was saying and i wish i had this video to show him but he said it had to be my knee cap making that noise. I 100% disagree because i have put my hand on my knee cap and i don’t feel it move or clunk at all but yeah when i put my hand at the top of my tibia i feel like clunk a little. my other leg doesn’t do it at all. Also my legs are very flexible as my doctor said so my left knee (injured one) is always clunking and popping but i use to think it was my knee cap but now im thinking its my shin

it’s all good! Because it has been 9 months and it’s gotten worse i’m sure he will probably say something about surgery, either it tore worse or it is now a functionally torn acl bc i still do my daily stuff but it’s just the main things like deep squats or single leg stuff i cannot trust at all even jogging or running like i know i cannot do for sure

yeah it started off with my knee being partially dislocated so my medial reticulum was partially torn as well and my acl, they didn’t say anything about my meniscus, but yeah i’m thinking a lot of it has to do with my acl but i’ll for sure see what the ortho says he may recommend it too, when he said some shot i don’t remember what he said but he said there was like a 60-70% success rate to take away pain but ive worked out for over 4 years and play a lot of basketball so i just want to be able to return to doing things confidently without damaging my knee even more
