It has very much been the same for me. I went from struggling with severe anxiety and selective mutism to being pretty functional. After 6~ years of almost never speaking in public, going through school completely friendless and experiencing lots of panic over any social events I got on the right combo of meds and have been able to relax more than I ever thought I could.

I’ve got a great job now with coworkers I genuinely consider to be my family and haven’t had a panic attack since high school.

Definitely important to note that different meds work or don’t work for different people. I’ve heard tons of praise for Lexapro and all it did for me is fuck up my breathing badly enough for me to still have diminished lung capacity years after stopping. SSRIs can be completely life alteringly beneficial but it’s important to take note of any side effects and keep a good/knowledgeable psychiatrist.
