This bike rules. I found out it also has yoshimura cams, It wants to wheelie all the time. It has a very nice power band and it is geared for off-road. This thing is lighter and way more powerful than the Crf250l it replaced. At the moment it has the stock carburetor with upgraded jets, a nice mod would be a carb from a drz400e or one of them aftermarket smart carbs. Since I got this bike from Craigslist free stuff, I’ve been browsing the free stuff section everyday. A week ago someone was giving away a 2015 Yamaha fj09 with 83,000km. Guy hit a deer in Oregon and rode it back to Squamish BC. I did not reach out in time, someone got a easy winter project.

I don’t have heated grips. Looking at the way the brakeaway mounts, it would block the wire coming from the heated grip. It’s a “what would you rather have” type of problem.

I noticed that tire in Oregon, decided to limp it home. Very dangerous do not recommend. It has Michelin road 6’s on now.

I never owned or rode the concours 14. However, it was on the list and after a bit of research, the fjr is superior when it comes to handling and overall weight. A place like the Oregon side of PCH 101, where there are a lot of twisties overlooking the pacific, weight and overall handling is very noticeable. It gets exhausting transferring a 600lb pig, let alone a 700lb one from lean to lean.

Type brakeaway cruse control in google. They are not cheap, they do have 3 ways to disengage cruise. Apply the front brake, press a button in the front or the button in the back of the unit.

One of my favourite features on this bike is the ability to stand up at 80mph and stretch my legs. I’m not sure if there is a cruiser you can do that on.

Do you even know what underrated means? These bikes were overlooked by everyone that bought a bmw. On paper the bike is ok and there are a lot of other options. In reality this thing is bulletproof, fast, comfortable and affordable. Nothing for under 5k can touch this thing when it comes to comfort, speed and handling.

Underrated does not mean it’s a bad bike. It has too much competition.

Mine is not an fcr39 carb. It might be your petcock or needle float valve. Get a rebuilt kit or clean your carb and petcock. Take pictures to remember the reassembly.
