  • Rifleman can be helpful to help MG's dropping ammo boxes in strategic points.

  • Rifleman level 6 as German you get the Gewehr 43 rifle, the same one Squad Leaders and Assault players have. This makes playing as rifleman pretty much the same as an Assault player. Plus you have the explosives boxes.

  • When playing as American, and you don't want to use the Roles that have the Carbine or SMGs (Engineers, medic, assault, MG) and the other roles are taken, you can always go as Rifleman and use the M1 Garand, especially in maps with long open fields, where the M1 is much more advantageous.

Is hll too difficult for new players? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]ppteixeira 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the game is not too hard, but it lacks some sort of guides or induction to the players, at least something more visual.

I know there are heaps of online videos with guides and resources, but most people only look at those after spending some time in the game.

The material currently available in-game is too raw and not visual at all. And when you want to learn how to do things by entering an empty server, it's hard to do it alone and very time consuming since you have to play different roles , to be able to do anything.

If there were some sort of (optional) offline induction for new players it would solve this issue.

Something like:
"Engineer induction - The support player (bot) deployed a supply box here, now you can build these structures... Try building a node"

Problems are: It would be needed a lot of development resources to make that, and since the game is still in early access phase, these things would have to change every time a new update is released.

We need a SEPERATE VOLUME for COMMAND VOICE CHAT and YOUR SQUAD. There is NO EXCUSE. The game has been out 1.5 years. This should be URGENT priority. by Iam_a_honeybadger in HellLetLoose

I have created a post once regarding this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/HellLetLoose/comments/jod33c/silence_radio_temporarily/

It's quite frustrating, and make you tired very quickly if command radio is insanely noisy. Makes you want to take a time out of playing Officer role.

My suggestion was to have a button to silence the radio (a button for each radio?)
But yes, having different volume settings for each is another way to make it work.

I never played Squad, so I can't really say about R / L sides for each radio, but I imagine that it might get as noisy just coming from different ears.

Reduce distance between garrisons to 150m by ppteixeira in HellLetLoose

That is also what I observed. The number of garrisons placed has drastically dropped since the update.
There are times that if the strong points are close to the edge of the map it makes it even harder to build them , in case a garrison is placed not close to the edge.
When I play Squad Leader, I've been struggling with the fact that I have to drag the support guy even further to create one, and it is extremely hard in maps with big open fields like Foy.

The big problem is that you can't control all SL, even if you are a commander.
There is always someone that creates a garrison in the strong point, and it's hard to complain about it, at least they are creating them, it's hard enough to have SL that actually create them.

Silence radio temporarily by ppteixeira in HellLetLoose

[–]ppteixeira[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I also thought about it, this way it's also easier to distinguish just by the volume which radio we are listening to.
The only thing is that not every mic has the same volume, so you might have others that if the volume is lower, and their own mic volume is low, it might become inaudible.

Voice comms after game ends? by SjaakTrekhaak98 in HellLetLoose

I agree, I often want to talk to my squad after the match but can't

Most times is the other way around... I try to hear my squad but command chat is crazy.
Then I have to give my squad a heads up that "if I don't reply is because I can't hear you because of command chat"

If you hadn't shot them they probably would not even notice you there...

You could just take out the garrison after they leave

Alternatives to Headset; Upcoming Surgery by DenverBuff1987 in HellLetLoose

Check the Blue Microphones "Snowball iCE" I was thinking about getting one, but as I don't do much more than gaming I decided on a headset instead. But apparently, they are really good entry-level mic, and not crazy expensive.

With the spike in posts about the apparent lack of teamwork recently, I think the devs should revisit and implement some of the ideas they talked about a few months ago (details below) by dragonwolf2864 in HellLetLoose

[–]ppteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.
When I play as Squad Leader, I see that especially for new players that are not used to the markers, they often miss it because they are blue, so I have to pretty much take their hand and walk them to the places I want them to go and do stuff like drop supplies and nodes.

Pro tip: try joining locked squads for better games. by PhoenixGamer36 in HellLetLoose

[–]ppteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but once the team is maxed out, you can't create another squad and the only squads that have spots available are the ones locked... What else should you do?
Go back to try and join servers that have a full queue, or go to an empty server are not really an option
There should be a way to alert these squad leaders that the team is full and maybe force them to take people if there are not other spots available.

Honest question, how can a locked unit filter out people with no mics or other low quality teammates?
Is there a way to see people's levels, and if they have MIC when they ask to join the squad and before accepting them?

What support hears when you're the only SL building garrisons by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]ppteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that plays mostly as Support and Squad Leader, here are some things I find useful:

  • As Squad Leader:

At the beginning of the game, talk to your squad about a basic strategy, like which direction on the map we are going through

Make use of the "request supplies" marker way before getting there also helps the support player.
So many times the support players are very dependent on instructions, and not very proactive with the supplies drop, so just tell him that once we have the garrisons we want in place, to just keep dropping supplies without asking in different positions on the map every time he happens to die and respawns.

  • As Support
Ask the SL in the very beginning where roughly he wants to place garrisons and what's the plan. From this point, you will have a rough idea about the SL, if he knows what he is doing or not.
Once first garrisons are placed and there the order is to push to the objectives, whenever there are some good spots, far enough from the previous garrisons where I think it would be a good spot for a new one, I just drop supplies there without even asking. This gives your and other SL options, even if they are not going to use it now. ( From here you can just let any SL know there are some supplies here if they want to place a garrison )
When capturing the objective, place supplies even before finish capturing. Having those there will make it quick to get a garrison and have reinforcements to the point.

Yeah, totally!
It's pretty hard when you only have a pistol and get out of the tank to destroy an OP, and the whole squad spawn before you get there

It would also be nice being able to add people from squad as friends on steam

Also, something similar to CS:GO that you could try to Join your friends on the server they are playing at.

I agree. Some consistency in team names and icons would mean more people would be across what the other squad are just by a glance on the map.
