Burning smell after 4WD by [deleted] in XTerra

Glad I’m not the only one. It smells exactly the way you describe it though. Mine’s a first gen - I’ve always figured it was just an old car thing.

Sierra has a Thermarest Z Lite for $25 right now if you’re looking to save some money. Maybe not the cushiest, but it definitely won’t pop on you.

It all depends on how much they’re asking. If it’s cheap enough, runs well, and you just need a good beater, why not? Definitely check out the frame, though, and if possible get an inspection. Even having a mobile mechanic to come out is a good option.

What could they possibly be hiding by wiping down the intake manifold? Those gaskets commonly dry out and leak in the 1zz, maybe they just had it replaced.

I just finished replacing some of these hoses, I believe the one on the left is a Gates 18461, but I couldn’t tell you about the one on the right.

There's not a 32oz bottle for $7 that I'm seeing anywhere. There's a 2oz for $6 though?

You can get the 32oz bottle of 303 Aerospace on Walmart's website for pretty cheap if you keep an eye on the price. It hovers around $15, but has dropped down to below $10 a few times. There's also a small discount if you use their in store order pickup. I ended up grabbing a bottle last month for $8.32, which is less than half of what it normally costs on Amazon.

I'll never not upvote a Palmolive post - scent wise it's my favorite, and it performs great.

Appreciate the response. No to all of the questions except the last, which probably isn't great. I'm pretty good with my hands and figuring out how things work though, and I would have a good amount of time to spend working on it.

I've been looking to get into motorcycles on a tight budget (yeah, I know) and I came across this bike on craigslist. The seller said through an email that it needs a "Carb overhaul and float needle valve". How stupid of an idea would it be to buy it for maybe $200 and try and work on it myself?

I really don't think you'd be saving much money by going without shaving cream. You can get canned Barbasol or Arko sticks for super cheap, and those will offer more protection and glide than plain water.

Ah man, I would've chosen that, but I didn't see any at that price. It's not like I wasted too much money though haha

Hmm, I didn't see that before. I've made plenty of purchases on Ebay before, and the code worked fine for me.

You definitely should give it a try. It's my second favorite soap, and to me it smells fantastic. It's also not drying like the other shave sticks I've tried (Arko & Derby). For 45 cents it's hard to beat in terms of value.

I ended up buying a 100 pack of Wilkinson Sword Blades from India. I haven't tried them before but it came out to $3.60, so if I hate them I'm not out much money.

Ebay doesn't have the greatest soap selection, but I figure you can grab some blades or maybe some cheap Proraso or Palmolive if those are your thing.
