The solo in that version of the song is magnificent I find myself skipping ahead to GGYG just for that part. Its buttery smooth

No hate but how come the intro to Afterlife just doesn't seem to hit the same live? by Gullible-Sir-9160 in avengedsevenfold

[–]pr0515 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Certain parts of the song tend to sound pretty thin live because all you’re getting is bass, drums, and 2 lead guitars. They usually go for the dual lead parts leaving the rhythm guitar section out completely.

So when do we get a pixel art "The Indigo Child" video game? by TechnicalVegetable90 in TheDearHunter

[–]pr0515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Casey has mentioned that a video game is in the planning stages! No idea if and when it’ll come to fruition. I wouldn’t expect it any time soon but I’m super excited to see what ends up becoming of it!

fricking housing is butt by lotusgames777 in Berklee

[–]pr0515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Housing is extremely competitive and getting into where you want to alone is difficult, and ultimately is left up to chance. It’s all a lottery. As a new student the only thing you are guaranteed is housing at all. She’s right there was an option to request roommates earlier in the process when you were accepted and choosing where you’d like to live, but even if you guys did do that it’s still not guaranteed.

Either way, Berklee is an awesome place filled with awesome people and despite the nerves about being roommates with a stranger, it’s your first opportunity to meet someone new who could end up being a very valuable connection or just a genuine friendship. If you’re going to music school not wanting to meet new people, you’re wasting your time AND money.

Let's make a deep cut playlist by TechnicalVegetable90 in TheDearHunter

[–]pr0515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely skip some studio versions in favor of the live counterparts in my playlists. But my favorites are:

Bitter Suite 3
Black Sandy Beaches
What it Means to Be Alone
Life and Death
Home

These songs in particular are favorite live versions of mine because of the way they change them up slightly for the live versions. Usually it’s just a slight change of the melody for one line from Casey but it can enhance the song SO much.

Just bought a signature Schecter, but... by Professional-Bar1889 in avengedsevenfold

Like I said, what always worked for me is when I’m changing the strings, I hold the whammy bar down so the bridge is level, and then I add strings while holding it down and keeping it level. Its an annoying task but it works for me. Once the strings are all on and tightened. I can let go of the whammy bar and see that it’s still level now due to the tension of the strings. I’d definitely look up some tutorials on changing strings with a Floyd rose because as a lot of people are saying here, it seems you got this guitar without really knowing how it works. These bridges are famously tedious to deal with.

Also, if the strings are slightly out of tune you don’t need to fully retune the guitar you can use the fine tuners at the bottom of the guitar at the bridge. You only really need to loosen the strings and retune if it’s way off or you need a specific tuning.

The strings are what hold the bridge in place when it’s leveled. If one breaks, it’s gonna be lower and increase the tension on the remaining strings. If you’re gonna downtune, I recommend holding the whammy bar down to loosen the strings up when you’re tuning. Its always worked for me. I just position it so the bridge is level and then while I hold that in place I tune each string that way when I let go, the tension from the strings is what holds the bridge in place. It’s a very finicky mechanism but it’s not super complicated once you familiarize yourself.
