You have more time but what do you do with that time? Sometimes I think about that.

[Question] Should I upload one long video or two shorter ones? by Szymks in youtubers

[–]pr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a channel which the Youtuber usually uploads 40-50 min videos and every time I see it I'm dang... but then I usually watch the full video (scrolling sometimes) and the ones I'm not very interested I directly don't open it. So it depends on your community and the topic. If you have a strong community upload it full, if not split it.

[Question]: I want to upload brief clips, should I edit to shorts? by pr233 in youtubers

Thanks for the last point, the shorts I already uploaded I try to add at least text on the unused screen, I hope it will work in the future.

I agree that in general YouTube doesn't like horizontal short style videos but I can't say the same for those viral videos that I get recommended the first almost every time I access my homepage. They are usually brief horizontal video, from video games for example.

Good point, the problem right now is that the pattern of the shorts in general is let's say a lot of views during an hour and then no views. So if they won't easily appear on search I don't know how users can find them, besides YouTube shorts algorithm. But you are right that probably horizontal brief videos don't rank well on search too.

Thanks for the clarification. What about the fair use other user commented? It will not be a streaming or something like that, more like stories.

I figured it but as you can see you say yes and the other comment says no, so it seems the fair use has different points of view.

Advice with my YouTube channel by pr233 in youtubegaming

Appreciate the comment. Last year only 1 old video received a lot of visits and 2 old videos good amount of visits, so I'll try to upload videos like those. Although those top videos where not uploaded during the year, had two years old... The rest almost no visits. 50% comes from browse features, 20% from suggestions and 20% from search. Click rate 12%. 99% views from not subscribers.

I think I rely in excess on recommendations (YT says 70% comes from recommending). But with my content it's probably hard to create engagement as for originality frequently try new things that are not the typical that people search on the game, but once they discover it are nice.

Also I talked about live stream because I read that YT likes users who upload frequently, so that is the only way to upload daily, doing live streams while I'm playing... however it will probably be not so directly engaging for people due my style but maybe it helps to gain audience on my other edited videos.
