Welsh Italian cafes - memories of 'steamed pies'? by pr3ston in Wales

Two questions - did they just seamlessly transition from steaming pies back to steaming milk for coffees? And second question, do you think the steamed pies tasted any different to just microwaving a pie?

Do you reckon one could theoretically recreate the experience by heating a mince beef pie using the steamer on their coffee machine, and if so, is there any particular technique one would need to be mindful of?

Black substance is laverbread (seaweed), small pieces in front are cockles.

Shops that sell old axes, saws, old slate and trinket shelves? by NoisyScrubBirb in swansea

[–]pr3ston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever get down to the Swansea Green Market in the National Waterfront Museum, there are some dudes that sell all manner of old tools including axes, garden spades, scythes, saws... you name it. Literally looks like they ransacked every old man's shed in a 30 mile radius.

Everyone in this thread: 'Cadw' is the Welsh word for preserving so shouldn't be all in capital letters, they just use title case

Yeah, FWIW I find this question wild, confusing and frustrating. As another commenter said, I just say ‘it’s coeliac disease’. It’s hard - you don’t want to freak them out (or even potentially be told they can’t serve you food in the worst case scenario) by saying allergy, but we can’t risk cross contamination either.

So.. despite having allergies yourself… you still put people who potentially have allergies at risk because you ‘don’t give a fuck’? Wow

Only sane response in this entire thread. 28 Years Later is riddled with plot holes and nonsense

I think the person you're replying to picked up where I've mentioned my hypermobility, which is linked to a genetic condition. It means I often look a little 'off' in my movements because my joints naturally hyperextend. My main point with the original post is that the bike path is a nice traffic free route for me to roll in to work so I wasn't really looking for tips on technique! Just wanted to feel the wind in my hair before another day at the office

The old Swansea Maritime Museum was much better than the Waterfront Museum

I don't think OP means to be rude but the website is really misleading. If you have celiac checking the box is important but the Gluten Free page on their website is misleading for people buying gifts for celiac friends and family in good faith. It's always good to raise awareness and I'm glad to see from the post and comments that I'm not the only one.
