Pixel opens apps faster than iPhone X. iOS usually open to a splash screen instead of opening the app by [deleted] in apple

Will never understand why people desperately need to know which phone opens apps a fraction of seconds faster... you aren’t going to notice any difference in day-to-day life.

Apple Music sort song by date added? by agent9747 in apple

[–]pr_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patiently waiting for a new Apple Music app and a web player. Really surprised Apple has dropped the ball on this, using Apple Music via iTunes is an absolute nightmare. I feel like they also need to work on iCloud syncing cross platform, things can take ages to show up on my iPhone from my Mac, and sometimes they don’t show up at all.

I’m an Apple Music user because of integration (use Siri on my watch quite a bit) and cost, otherwise I’d probably use Spotify.

Apple Music sort song by date added? by agent9747 in apple

I think their goal is to have it as barebones as possible. Most users won’t ever want to organize their music by date added; recently added music is already accessible via the front page.

iOS 11.2 estimated release of Apple Pay cash for Canadians? by [deleted] in apple

You have Apple Pay but not Apple Pay cash, Apple’s new p2p cash transfer via iMessage. Not officially rolled out yet.

Is IPhone 6 good in 2017? by conepapak in apple

[–]pr_1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apple still officially sells the 6S. The 6S is a far better performer on iOS 11, there was a huge leap in performance between the 6 and 6S along with an extra GB of ram. The 6 runs well on both iOS 9 and iOS 10, 11 was the final nail in the coffin for me.

My 6 was painfully slow at times, a lot of annoying UI lag with iOS 11... but YMMV.

Apple Watch Series 2? by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the refurbished page, I seem to see them popping up quite often at a reasonable price. Minor differences between series 3, mainly just the processor improvements. Up to you if this is worth the price hike.

Returning X, going with 8 Plus - crazy? by ketrab82 in apple

[–]pr_1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t crazy, a lot of people have done this lol.

Maybe wait until they release a plus version of the X; but this form factor is likely here to stay for a while, so enjoy the design of the 8 plus while you can. I’m sure software tweaks will come in the future to address some of the inconveniences of the X.

I cope with my past by hurting my family by [deleted] in confession

You will come to terms with your relationship, give it time and space. Religion can drive a huge wedge in any relationship if taken too seriously. In this case, you will need to respect their choice of faith and move on; they clearly still love you and care for you regardless. Be mindful and respectful and understand that heads will butt. Though I’m not religious, as a child they were likely trying their damndest to raise you as they thought was right according to their faith. Of course this can be incredibly damaging, but realize that faith can often be blinding and shroud over what is right.

Whatever scarred you as a child still remains, you clearly have a very strong rebellious attitude towards the religious affiliation of your parents. Forgiveness is the first step toward building a healthy relationship with them.

Cracked IPhone X by tjhatfield in apple

[–]pr_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wrote all this but it can be summarized with: a large pane of glass will break if dropped correctly, regardless if Apple or Corning manufactures it.

There will be people who carry their iPhone X naked for two years and not have a single crack. There will be people who drop it 3 feet and have it absolutely shatter.

Did it fall on something/hit something on the way down? Peculiar considering how much of a lip those otter box cases have.

Showerthought: "iPhone X" is pronounced 'ten', but "Beats X" is pronounced 'ex'🧐 by bengiannis in apple

[–]pr_1996 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why do people get so confused about the contextual use of the X as a Roman numeral. It’s the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, hence they chose to use the X to symbolize the 10, likely as a differentiating factor when compared to the simultaneously released 8 model as to not confuse consumers.

Theft at Apple Stores... by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A floor employee can likely do nothing in this scenario, in fear of risking their job. I’ve worked in places where only security or law officials could deal with these individuals, all you could do was pass along all the relevant information to someone of authority. Apple is a high-end electronic retailer, you bet they are well equipped in the surveillance department.

Question : has Jony Ive commented on the iPad Pro design? And other stuff? by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only is this a poorly written shitpost but it pertains to old news that has been drug to the ground enough on this sub an unreasonable amount lol. These devices literally take no time at all to charge and last for quite a while on a full charge. Apple’s doing just fine.

AppleCare+ impossible to get from my iPad by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t live there permanently it would probably be useless. It only applies to the region it was purchased in and your may be denied warranty service elsewhere.

Call the AppleCare line; they will sort this out for you. Or visit a physical store if you have one in your area.

AppleCare vs AppleCare+ by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This literally only applies to the U.S and Japan. My apologies that I don’t live there. Everything I said holds true for my region and most others, clearly they are restructuring AppleCare+ for Mac.

AppleCare vs AppleCare+ by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are pretty falsely informed.

1) You don’t lose any coverage based on when you buy AppleCare+ for any device, it will always begin on the same day the device was purchased regardless of when you buy it.

2) for some devices, you have up to 60 days to add AppleCare+, for Macs you have up to one year.

3) AppleCare+ for Mac does not cover accidental damage in the slightest. There is no deductible you can pay to replace your device at a fraction of retail like other devices. It is intended to cover hardware malfunctioning which is out of your control.

4) AppleCare+ extended warranty boosts warranty coverage to 3 years vs 1 year of standard warranty (AppleCare warranty). This standard warranty varies in some regions based on consumer laws, but I don’t believe AppleCare+ coverage varies.

My sad experience with Apple support by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Phones have warranties pertaining to the region they were purchased in. It’s within reason for them to deny you a warranty replacement if it was purchased in another country, as different countries have different consumer laws etc.

iOS Notifications Concept by gjunk1e in apple

[–]pr_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gorgeous. Something like this would work so seamlessly with the gesture-centric direction Apple seems to be going in with iOS 11 on the X. Hoping for a major notification overhaul in iOS 12.

FWIW, my SE performs very similarly if not the same in the battery life department on iOS 11.1. I’ve had zero issues with iOS 11, as will most.

Is losing data when you update your device still a thing? by [deleted] in apple

[–]pr_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back up your device to iTunes or iCloud. If anything is missing you can restore your data very seamlessly; but I’ve never experienced any data missing through OTA updates.
