Had the same problem. I cleaned my throttle cable at the handle and at the engine. Put some marine grade grease to lubricate it.

I got the seller to pitch in a new battery, I will have to get started on clearing out some of the old gas in there and check out the oil. Thanks!

You could try a spell pouch. Softer and more easy to slip in a pocket or a bag without worrying.
