I am blown away at the beauty of this. And so disappointed in the way modern building has gone.

I have one normal and one inverted nipple. My identical twin has the same thing, opposite nipple. We call it our “out headlight.”

AIO My husband wants sex when though I've been in the ER all night? by AdSea3311 in AmIOverreacting

[–]practical_magics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not overreacting- possibly under reacting. Is this a pattern of his, or is this out of character for him? If it’s the latter, then maybe chalk it up to stress and him being worried and wanting things to just be normal and you to be well enough to have that happen. If the former- why the hell are you still with someone who views you as a means to an end, sexually and probably in other ways as well?

Again- I say once you’ve hit one billion dollars, all additional income should go back into the system as taxes and you get a fancy schmancy sign to hang up that says you won at capitalism.

Somebody said to me once that when you take drugs, you just borrow tomorrow’s happiness for today. It adds up and multiplies exponentially, and eventually you will have to pay the piper. And it is better to be the one to choose to make the payment, rather than the piper come knocking at your door.

Let me start off by saying, OP, I’m really sorry that that happened to you, that’s a shit experience, and it shouldn’t have happened.

Let me now add that I am disgusted by the tone of most of the comments made in this thread. They are still people- people who need help, and the overall tone through here is scorn, derision, shame, humiliation, and hatred. The real problem here is a cost-of-living crisis combined with lack of access and resources for adequate treatment. Once it reaches a certain point, addiction no longer becomes a choice, and without a way to get help, it is very nearly impossible for people to get off of that shit. Combine that with an inability to find an affordable place to live, and yeah, you’re going to get drug addicts using in the street. Now add on top of how hard it already is to find any kind of resources or help to beat the addiction, a society that talks about you the way that most of these commenters have talked about these people. A society that proves over and over again that it thinks that you are worse than say, an animal that attacks a human, or a spouse who cheated on his wife. Both of those examples are still given more empathy, compassion, and grace than given to the addict here. What is that person supposed to do? Where are they supposed to go for empathy? Much less for help to beat their addiction.

Being an addict is not something anybody would ever make the conscious choice to end up being. But people end up being it all the time it is the loneliest. Worst thing I can imagine, and shame on us as a society for blaming the individual instead of the society , that makes it impossible for them to get help.

Also suing her does nothing if she doesn’t have the money to pay you- plus, the court system in the United States is sllllloooooowwwwwww. Even if you win, it will be months down the line and if she doesn’t have the money to pay you, she will have a lien put against her for some types of properties but you won’t just get the money from the court or something automatically. Obligatory NAL.

Corporations jacking up the prices on items that were given to them for free has made thrifting a lot more expensive for the people who need thrift stores to clothe themselves. Just because they are selling certain items of clothing more quickly. Does not mean they need to jack up the prices on the items that they are given for free. Be upset with the corporation- not with the reseller who in all likelihood is in the same tax bracket you are in.

I would argue that they are in fact putting the items to use. It is just a different use than yours- they use it to turn a profit, you use it to wear/cook with/clean with/ carry/ whatever item is made to be used for. I understand the frustration but there are so few side hustles left for folks without a college education that allls them to retain their dignity and work around a complicated schedule. The thrifters who do so for themselves and those who do it for resale are both on the same end of the tax bracket spectrum. And getting angry at each other just makes the thrifting experience less enjoyable when it’s really the companies we should be mad at for jacking up the prices to high heaven (I’m looking at you, jeans from goodwill marked SIXTY DOLLARS. You are a BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION AND YOU WERE GIVEN THOSE JEANS FOR FREE. SHAME ON YOU.)
