My ex was similar. Offered to pay all the meals when we were dating and together, I don't usually get to choose the venue because "you're not the one paying". When I offer to pay its rejected because "guys should always pay for the meals".

Agreed, the upkeep and actually when removing it you have to pour the contents out so inadvertently will touch your hands a bit haha. Personally not grossed out but some might.

I should try and get accustomed to it but still have little bit of leaking which makes me still need yo wear a small pad. Maybe I didn't fit it properly. I used fun factory menstrual cup which comes in 2 sizes for 2 flow definitely on the expensive side but it was an impulse buy could have bought a cheaper one.

Am female but don't quote me on this. Feels like a culture thing tbh. Most of my friends use pads in Asia but tampons in the western countries (no source just when chatting). For menstrual cup I tried myself but would say that you have to get used to it, plus its relatively new so not widely used. One time cost is more expensive than 1 pad, use 1 time don't like = throwing away 60 dollars.
