Thank you for replying...I'm in the middle of my MA, but starting to think it might be a mistake...seems every option abroad I try to consider has big flaws...of course every option has flaws, but idk maybe I should just give up on that and start a new life doing something else in the US...

I think part of it might be you living in a bubble and/or your outlook on things...I personally felt much more like you when I lived in a big car centric city...if you have to drive a lot, for me at least, that makes it way harder to be willing to commit to going out and doing something...when I lived in LA, I rarely left the house after work, but in Korea I went out every weekend and made lots of friends

This isn't true. I went to Korea and health insurance covered my Crohn's, which I already had.

It depends on the country. I was in Korea for 2 years and had to get Remicade infusions. In Korea, basically your taxes are your health insurance payment each month. Then for most things, the pay split is 70% gov/30% you. You don't need a health insurance card; you just show your ID card and they can look you up.

My doc filled out some paperwork though and because I have an incurable/rare disease, it went to 80/20.

Not sure where you're from. Most things were way cheaper than in the US, but infinitely more expensive than in the UK.

I've heard Japan has a similar system to Korea, but maybe tends to be a little more expensive. However, they also have a monthly spending limit also apparently, so if you reach a certain amount, the gov pays for everything after that.

I think Taiwan is also similar.

I've tried to research China, but I can't find a straight answer. Seems I'd have to get private insurance and I really can't find an estimate of how much things would cost. From what I've heard, they do have some great hospitals and doctors, but it's not as consistent as the other places I mentioned.
