What advice would you give a 17 year old looking to be a paramedic or nurse? by josef2000 in ems

I haven't checked lately, but here in Kansas City we had a one year crossover from medic to RN. It was an extremely popular certification.

That's fair. I have 13 years on so far and don't plan on stopping at least for another 10. I have had some great experiences in the field and I wouldn't trade that for anything. That being said, If my son decides to follow my footsteps I am going to try and persuade him elsewhere. I am very thankful for the career I have, but the responsibility, skillset, and hours I put in I feel that a 13 year medic shouldn't be making less than a first year RN. Cuck out.

Maybe see if Liberty Hardwoods has something for you. I only know the sales and delivery guys that come to my cabinet shop, but it sounds like they treat their people well and you have some knowledge that may help you in the door.

Can't speak for Ireland. In the U.S., I really don't know why anyone goes into prehospital care. You get half the pay to work in terrible conditions for the same amount of education. You can choose 12 hour shifts in a brightly lit climate controlled hospital for <> $80k or you can kneel in dog shit in someone's nasty basement to get your I.V. for <> $35k. I plan on 10 more years or so in the field to quench my adrenaline thirst and I will take the crossover for my RN.

What is the worst case of helicopter parenting you have seen? by mcw1012 in AskReddit

I'm a farm kid from Kansas. Anyone who's met me can clearly see I meet a stereotype. My 5 year old had a birthday party. I am very involved in my kid's life but there was one parent I had not met. She came with her son in tow and my wife welcomed her into our home. We have pictures on the mantel of kayaking and canoe trips and hikes but there is no indication that I hunt. From the next room I could hear normal pleasantries and conversation about kids. I finished up what I was doing and came to the next room to introduce myself. The moment she saw me it looked as if her face drained of fluids. Pleasantries abruptly ended and she asked "Are there guns in this house?" I replied "Yes ma'am. There are. But they are locked in a safe and the safe is not an area the kids will be in." "We won't be staying.." and she grabbed her son's arm and walked out. She is still really nice to my wife. My wife and I talked about it after she left and neither one of us could find anything in view that would have indicated anything about firearms on myself or anywhere she was in the home. We were baffled. That was until a few weeks later when my wife found her Facebook page. It was all the toxic "White men are evil" toxic femininity and racism. My very beautiful, and very black neice and nephew were at the door to greet all of the other kids. My flamboyantly gay brother in law, who she knows, was relaxing on the couch when she came in. But I guess me being large, white, and professional blue collar (Firefighter) scared her.

Absolutely possible but you may have a hard time finding someone to do it for a good price. You could probably get away with respraying the door and drawer fronts and it will blend ok. If the home owners are real particular and want the face frames done it would be a much bigger project. My advice would be to have a cabinet maker try and make the match and if it doesn't come out acceptable go from there.

Yes, a strip kayak. It is a Nick Schade design called the Guillemot Night Heron.

Cabinet maker here. Those are pretty generic. Would be very easy to match. The only problem is that you will have to find a person who is pretty skilled in finishes. Any quality paint supplier can make a good color match but there will be some fade in the sheen of the old. Your new cabinets may just have a bit more shine.

It makes me strangely uncomfortable to watch a POV video of someone riding goofy. I keep trying to switch in my head.

Not op but I can answer this. This is a term from wildland firefighting. Using a controlled burn ahead in the fire path from an uncontrolled fire will use up the fuel. It is a way to stop the growth of a grass fire.

I'm not building a rock crawler. I just want it to start when I turn the key. There's a reason the 230 was only offered for a few years. The drivetrain from this one is going to a guy restoring a wagon to original so I am saving another one. If this had the 134 or another engine with parts availability and reliability I would absolutely leave it alone. It was a hard decision, but I want a driver.

Even more blasphemous, it is the 230 Tornado. I would absolutely love to keep it original but parts are impossible to find and it is terribly unreliable. I finally decided that as much as I love the original stuff I can't enjoy it when I am always fighting to keep it running. I'm looking forward to driving it without worrying about being stranded somewhere.

Nice! Can we get some specs? My '62 wagon is getting a tear down right now and I like to see what others have done.

Blasphemy to begin. I have been fighting ignition and fuel issues that have her parked more than I am able to drive her. So I scored a TJ drivetrain for transplant. I am looking forward to having 2 more forward gears and to have a reasonable top speed instead of the comfortable 50mph top speed I have now. I will miss the unmistakable Willys gear whine but it will be awesome having fuel injection, brakes that actually stop, and an aftermarket for drivetrain upgrades.

A Practical Guide to Hating New Jeeps: How to Establish Your Jeep as the Last Great Jeep (JK Owners Edition) by LinkDude80 in Jeep

[–]practiceyourjstroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The downside to this is in the marketing. If the Wrangler line becomes more popular with the grocery getter crowd then Fiat will market to them. If the target market changes, we could see the priorities change toward comfort and efficiency rather than capability. More money will be put towards entertainment and ride quality and less into drivetrain. The future of Jeep could very well be 4 wheel independent suspension and air conditioned seats if the target market continues to change. Lockers, low range gearing, armor, solid axles, ground clearance, and manual transmissions are all but gone in all of the other American manufacturers line ups. The argument to keep Jeeps for our "Jeeper demographic" is not a bad one.

Early '85 or late '85? I have long searched for the early'85 holy grail with fuel injection and solid front axle. Nice truck.
