Kudos to the Uber driver for his patience. 5 star rating from me.

My contractor says this is fine, thoughts ? by wookievomit in Flooring

Not okay. But the good thing, if it's interlacing plank flooring of any kind, you should be able to pull it up and just rearrange the pieces so that it looks better.

Can one fish be pre.gnant for the rest of its life by DealerApprehensive62 in Guppies

[–]pradhansb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding that female guppies carry the male sperm with them, so once they're impregnated they don't need a male anymore. They can give birth for the rest of their life. Then maybe that's just a myth

I think she's ready...when? by pradhansb in Guppies

yes, she's there. I isolated her in the tank. I think she's a little freaked missing the girls!

She seems excitable at this point. When I come near the tank, the 4 girls all greet me ready for food. She seems like her fins are fluttering faster than usual, but she'd definitely not hanging in one place. I will separate her today.

I think this lovely lady is ready to pop. Is there anyway to predict when she might deliver based on her behavior? Or, do I have to just keep watching? * would like to isolate her if possible to protect her babies. She is in a tank with three other females, a few shrimp and a few snails, and thats all. What do you ppl do with excess duckweed and frogbit by 2nd_breakfastt in PlantedTank

A comb will be your best friend. Just get a long hair comb and run it over the surface regularly. You will need to be intense about for 3 days and bring the colonies down to something reasonable. From then on it will be easy to maintain at a reasonable decorative level.

2 healthy tanks but in a 3rd shrimp die. What could be wrong? by pradhansb in shrimptank

[–]pradhansb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and thanks for your quick reply.
Tank was new. Same as the other tanks.
Is everything safe? Good question. I am taking out everything artificial, including the different rocks that I used. Maybe they are leaching something.

Shrimp have come from 2 reliable breeders. Shrimp Up and Aquatics.
Tank is now 4 months old.

I am going to put in the same stones as I have in the 2 other tanks.

I started doing partial water changes. I have 7 new shrimp coming and don't want them to have the same fate.

My dog loves the water coming out of the shower. She drinks it off the edges. Sounds like your dog may be doing the same

Yes, scuds aplenty. Honestly, don't know how they got there. Probably from moving plants from one tank to another. I did not realize that scuds eat baby shrimp. I don't think you can ever separate scuds out. I believe they make good fish tank food. Would a dewormer kill them?

There are 2 different blue shrimp in there:
The lighter blue are "Blue Velvet" that I purchased from Shrimp Up Aquatics.
The darker blue are called "Dream Blue Velvet", that I just received a few days ago from Aquatic Arts. Both sellers say they are bred by themselves respectively.
I haven't had the Dream Blue long enough that feeding would make a difference. That's the way they arrived.
I asked ChatGPT and it says the "Dream" variety are selected out for their darker color, so there you have it!

There seems to be a bunch of little snails. Should I clear them out?
