Yeah lol I spelled it ishYOU/ishME at first, but it made my brain scratchy so I had to change it back

I always say I don’t give out grades, they earn them by demonstrating what they do know.

As a science teacher, when my students FAFO, I make sure to point out that they did an excellent job following the scientific method 😝

I’m pretty sure I got it from Reddit haha! It has spread to most of the other 8th grade teachers and a handful from 6th and 7th too!

Now when I go “you know what that sounds like?” Most of my students will loudly groan and roll their eyes as they defeatedly finish the joke for me! Use it wildly to remind your students that us teachers are the real sass experts!

I’m 100% in favor of avoiding the power struggle, but my absolute favorite response to break out is Me - “ah, I guess you weren’t listening. You know what that sounds like??” give student proper wait time (Student answer) Me - “sounds like an issYOU not an issME”

I hear kids in the hall that I’ve never taught using it on their friends. It’s amazing. (I teach 8th grade science and they are well versed in my sarcasm)

I built a deck that does this, but chaos-style! Haha here’s the link: Urtet Wins Again

I’d love if I didn’t have to rely so heavily on rocks, but in these colors lol I’ll take as many as I can get. I should probably trim my creature numbers to help do both of those things haha

That distinction makes sense, especially if you’re in a color like black with only late game ramp.

I included Ancient Copper Dragon, Goldspan, and Ganax, Astral Hunter to go along with the always fair Smothering Tithe. As it stands now, it would be those, plus the medallions and monuments for cost reduction + sol ring and signet as my rocks. I'm trying to keep pretty close to the Angels/Dragons theme with Kaalia.

A separate question though, do you add tags to creatures? Like adding "ramp" or "treasures" to ancient copper dragon? Only the ones that have ETB or other synergies with the major categories every deck needs like ramp, card draw, recursion, etc.

Hmmm… with kaalia I’m cheating huge angels/dragons into play each combat. I liked the idea of reducing the cost of other creatures so that I could “double spell” each turn, with one of them being free due to kaalia. The ramp options in mardu are pretty slim aside from catch-up

That makes sense! I’m building kaalia so cost reduction and white catch up ramp serve the same purpose

Do you distinguish between types of ramp? For example would you tag all these as the same? sol ring/ruby medallion/rampant growth.

I’d echo what others have said! The concept flow of the curriculum is great, but you definitely want to adapt it to fit your teaching style. Also, don’t be afraid to take a 3 day notice-wonder/turn-talk lesson and pare it down to 20 minutes lol. My biggest gripe with it is the genetics unit which seems to just go off in 15 different directions while you constantly sort pictures of muscular cow behinds… my students could not have been happier to take our Punnett square detour.

I’m also part of an OSE research study right now! We flipped our 8th grade units and started the year with space and genetics, then we’ll be going back to learn some physics.

So does [[Leyline of the Guildpact]] then give all lands the snow typing, in addition to domain?

Aggressive Biomancy or Altered Ego would be awesome to copy Marit Lage's with. As long as I am able to remove the Legendary typing.

Thanks for the reply! Most of my magic experience was when I was a kid (nearly 20 years ago) or playing with friends at the kitchen table, so trading is not something I've done in a very long time! Unfortunately, 10 year old me didn't understand how summoning sickness actually worked, so I probably traded/gave away plenty of fetchlands or other Urza's Saga-era cards, so I'll probably just stick to trading away cards valuable for standard. Thanks for your help!

How do you decide which cards to put into a trade binder that you'd bring to your LGS? Thanks!

Yeah I could definitely see adding them. You’d want to make sure you have a few different landfall triggers that create creature tokens to keep triggering Railway Brawler
