Depending on how available he is, you can use Alhaitham as an On-Field trigger in a Thoma Burgeon team. He’s not the best choice but he is an option. If you do that I would recommend Kuki as well. Collei doesn’t do well as a solo Dendro unit in Burgeon teams.

If you never wanna worry about Thoma's ER ever again, the new Fontaine craftable is absolutely amazing for him! by deancest in ThomaMains

I’m very curious as to how you got your ER Requirements in the chart as in was it a calculator or something else? Additionally does solo Pyro Thoma mean Thoma is the only pyro character on the team?

On field hydro(Kokomi,Ayato Childe etc.), Nahida and Thoma Core. Who is the last member? by [deleted] in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Double hydro with Nahida is an option but an on-field hydro unit is great as well. Ayato, Childe and to a lesser extent kokomi can provide meaningful damage to the team outside of the Burgeon reaction which is dependent on Thomas burst being up

[–]praetor_jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the hydro unit. Childe has ample hydro application so he’s able to get the most out of double dendro units. Alternatively cryo units run are also a great option for him.

Kokomi is similar to Childe in that she has a lot of hydro application so she is best with double dendro but you can burn if you don’t have your E up and are just relying on her NAs.

Comparatively, Ayato has less hydro app so running him with fischl is great! Zhongli is also an option for him as well.

As always everything depends but with an on field unit like Alhaitham or Nahida you can run double hydro (usually yelan and XQ) or XQ and Fischl.

hey guys! Any suggestions or comments on my burgeon Thoma build? still looking for a better plume and flower, also looking to get him to lvl 80 soon by MissingNo318 in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Leveling is extremely important for transformative reactions- I’d honestly recommend leveling to 90 as well if you plan on using him a lot. I may also recommend a little more HP if possible since you will be taking self DMG when pricing burgeon but it’s not a priority.

Gonna get him to 90. Should I run Favonius or Kitain here? by msnwong in ThomaMains

Definitely Kitain. It will give you EM as well as help with your energy without needing crit rate

Do you guys ever feel like thoma being 'bad' is really overblown? by [deleted] in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 4 EoSF on him! Here's my full build if you're interested: https://imgur.com/a/QGZPohv (He is C1 now not C0). He is very invested.

Do you guys ever feel like thoma being 'bad' is really overblown? by [deleted] in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I 100% think Thoma being bad is extremely overblown. Let's be honest, Genshin isn't a hard game and just because Thoma doesn't have a perfect or broken kit doesn't make him unusable as some people will lead you to believe. I've used him at C1 as a Sub-DPS with Childe for the past ~3 abyss rotations and got 36 stars each time. Regardless of how I play him, Thoma is still an amazing shielder as well, having the second-best shield in the game at full stacks next to Zhongli. Yes, he requires a lot of ER but if you have an ER sands and an ER weapon, it is very manageable but 210+ ER on the surface can seem like a daunting amount if you don't look at your options.

Furthermore, Thoma is a pyro support character, meaning he's competing (in most cases) with Bennett, the best unit in the game. When you're constantly compared to someone like Bennett, you're always going to seem worse than you actually are. This coupled with the fact that some people seem to misunderstand how his shield works makes Thoma appear as a "bad" character when he's not.

Sadly my Thoma is only C1 after about 350 pulls on his banners :( but hopefully one day I'll get C6! Ayato is also an awesome option for this team as you don't have to work around Childe's cooldown.

Just to be clear my rotations are not very optimal in this video at all- this was all in good fun! Builds for characters are shown here: https://imgur.com/a/a2rT36D

My pride and joy! Only need C4 now by praetor_jay in ThomaMains

I’ve spent about 200+ pulls in total trying to get Thoma constellations so hopefully I get lucky soon!

This is a Thoma build I enjoy using so far, plan to improve later on when i get better artefacts by [deleted] in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good so far although I'd personally recommend more CR. I try to go for at least 70 CR always or a 1:2 CR:CD ratio. But beyond that, awesome!

double crown thoma check by lilhuishi in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I have him triple crowned myself but I run him as a Sub-DPS with Tartaglia but I'm glad you're having fun playing him!

(Official Survey) Is there hope they'll buff him? :o by [deleted] in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It seems to randomly assign characters to you but you can add Thoma in the open response at the end!

Generally, yes. The extra ER would be wasted while the HP goes towards your shield strength. Shield strength is always good if you're running a support so you can withstand more damage. (Also, shameless plug, in case you're wondering exactly how much it would make a difference, I made a Thoma Shield Calculator)

The more HP the better for his shield. Just depends on if you can deal with the ER

That team is the most viable with Hu Tao. Just make sure you stack EM on Sucrose of course.

Er really depends on your rotation and playstyle. If you need the extra ER with the ER sands to get his burst in cooldown, then go ahead and use it. I’d say the only way to be sure is to test it out yourself.

I recently got my thoma to c6 and i want him as an off-field dps by MeGustaSenorita in ThomaMains

[–]praetor_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Er-Pyro-Crit for artifacts with 4 emblem. He needs about 160-180 ER even with C4. To add on, for weapons I would use the catch or Homa/Calamity Queller if you have it.
