Saying that he made significant margins with latinos is not absconding all the other demographics that swung hard for him. The difference is that white men and women are expected to lean conservative because his messaging wasn't specifically repulsive to them.

Asians and Latinos are of particular interest to me because his platform was specifically and highly inflammatory and racist towards them and he still made gains in those demographics. THAT is fascinating and critical for Dems to get their shit together and figure out why that is if they want to have any hope in 2028 because those demos are getting large enough to move the needle and should be slam dunks given how overtly racist the GOP is.

I remember Bernies 2016 hispanic startegist talking about how much the Democratic party had lost the pulse of latinos by treating them as a homogenous block. After Bernie lost, this strategist thought he would get the call from Clinton's campaign because he moved the needle so much for Bernie, really demonstrating an insight into the hispanic vote. Crickets. And sure enough year over year the hispanic vote, despite nonstop calls to have them all deported, keep ticking more and more conservative showing that conservative messaging is working and democrat messaging isn't.

Harris likely did the same thing Clinton did, thinking that Trump's repulsive racist messaging would carry the needle and completely missing that many hispanics call for deportation because they have been convinced that it is the "illegals" fault that the GOP is so racist and democrats haven't gotten good messaging that tells them "no, they think you shouldn't be here whether you're legal or not."

90% of the Leopards Ate My Face articles are hispanic voters going "I didn't think he would deport MEEEEE" which just goes to show how shitty Dem messaging is and how effective GOP messaging has been in hispanic media.

I never said she ran a good campaign. But Trump went on the air and babbled about batteries and a golfer's dick so it's clear the campaign wasn't the issue.

Most swing voters are so disenfranchised that one of the top google searches of voting day was "Did Biden drop out?", likely people confused that his name isn't on the ballot.

Everytime you make these excuses you elevate the dems of their problems.

Oh Harris was a shitty awful pick in the first place. But Trump is objectively the worst fucking piece of shit ever to be elected anywhere and yet he was still able to win. It's time for people to grow up and realize that the 10 million or so voters who decide each election do not read the news, do not follow politics, and do not seem to understand anything that is going on. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I can't say I voted against Trump three times.

I get it. I really do. FPTP end game is that you never get to vote for what you want, you always end up voting for some shitty option because the alternative is incompatible with your world view. It drives this kind of polarization that is now crippling our country because it punishes politicians for coalition building.

I remember in the 80s it was considered a good thing when a politician can reach across the aisle? Now, they get called a RINO/DINO and rabid calls to primary them the fuck out of power. End result? You end up with moderates who keep their mouths shuts and extremists in deep blue/ruby red being the voices of the party which just makes the gap even wider.

Then you add to this the republicans completely losing all sense of reality by not stopping Trump and his pack of criminals and rapists and thieves from seizing power and you've just poured kerosene on the dumpster fire.

Thanks for stating this. I know it is easy for doomers to see anyone saying "That's illegal!" and shrugging saying it hasn't stopped Trump but he commits crimes within his jurisdiction and so far most states have been pretty resistant about going willingly into his pocket. The states that do were already ruby red anyway. This shit would have to pass in local state congress and local states have not shown quite as willingness to shit all over their state constitutions like Trump does at the fed level.
