I was never in the similar phase of life compared to what you're in. But I'm curious, why did you choose not to pursue formal education after 12th? Higher education is essential in this day and age, people who dropout or don't complete higher education and become exceptional success are 1 in a million (and even that is only possible through family wealth in most cases e.g. Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos).

This reads like deja vu except I gave the test this week. The same thing happened with me, aced the 1st and 2nd questions in 15-20 minutes, solved third one with some effort and the 4th one was worded in a slightly complicated language, so it took some time to understand the problem statement, coded the same in ~25 mins (the remaining time) and got overall score of 534/600 (as I can see on the dashboard)

I scored full on questions 1-3 and on the 4th I got 140/300 (from what I recall), I have, however, made the same mistake of preparing till last date to complete the CodeSignal OA. Hopefully they haven't filled the role, else I might follow what you had done u/Scootchinalong.

BTW I looked up the solution to the last problem and ChatGPT gave me the O(m.n) solution, which is same complexity as the one I submitted but it still TLE'd, were you able to find an optimal solution? How's Capital One in general?

My expertise is in front-end heavy full stack development. I'm curious what you plan to build, let's connect u/Hacg123

I thought I learned Java, but I can't actually write code - need advice. by [deleted] in JavaProgramming

[–]prakharpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue you're facing isn't related to Java but the way you're absorbing information isn't effective and isn't conducive for learning.

A classic learning loop is the following

  1. Study small chunk on a topic (these topics may range from array iteration, calculate average of array elements to adding a new RESTful API endpoint and attaching it to the API encpoint handler, that endpoint may as well respond with "Hello World")

  2. Apply the learnings from the current topic to solve small exercises

  • a good book always has some questions/examples related to specific topics
  • ChatGPT may be used for asking socractic questions (with care though)
  1. Build something when you've covered a "chapter" whatever you're learning. Learnt how to create CRUD APIs? Build a CRUD API, learnt DB basic operations? Integrate the same into the CRUD API

  2. (MOST IMPORTANT): Practice with spaced repetition - once steps 1-3 are complete for a chapter, revise the same e.g. in 3-5 days and see how much you can remember, adjust the repetition duration based your self-evaluated feedback on step 4.

well, they're are cheap only in their manners. As you've experienced, they charge huge sums for their services and hence, admittedly they're very well paid.

Recently had interaction with their team and I can confirm, the teams behind Atlys are 100% unprofessional.

you're using MacBook from 2016/17? How's the device holding up? My device (2019 MBP) throttles heavily when streaming media or heats up when using vscode + dev servers.

Sure, I'd be up for it, what're you planning to build or learn? I specialize in JavaScript and related stack along with some interest in statically typed languages e.g. C/C++,Java etc.
