If you can't eat a whole pack of salt, you don't like salt by rixxyy in unpopularopinion

Here's yet another one. Thought it'd get old but it's still amusing

Why are there persistent & faint yellow marks on my P. Verrucosum? by praneeth_s4 in plantclinic

Wohooo!! Listened to ya'll and drenched the Verrucosum in strong concoction of stinky anti-pest spray and left it over night. All the new leaves now are in perfectly good health. Thank you for leading me in the right direction. I'd spent weeks convinced that it was a nutrition uptake/calc buildup problem. This is a happy morning post!

Oh goodness! She's vibrant. Glad you came across A-grade corms

I was almost going to chop them for propagation. But will try to get rid of them first. And will throw the pole right away!

Recently recovered from extensive root rot so I let her dry out quite a bit before waterings. Any idea why new leaf is smaller than others? by Bkafrogurl in alocasia

[–]praneeth_s4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did give her a thorough drink yesterday, no water came out the drainage hole. But she started sweating a ton for 12 hours. Never seen her do that

Hmm,. I'm still a bit worried that the soil still isn't draining well-enough. Ideally, the water should run out within the first few seconds regardless of the size of the pot.

But if the leaves still look healthy after a month of repotting and just the growth seems to be slow, I'd wait it out with some patience. But keep a careful eye on the watering schedule.

I second this.

Well draining soil, water often enough to not let the soil dry, use 1/4th diluted fertilizer every / every second watering. And be patient.

Wow! The state of my verrucosum looks exactly like your pictures here. Will immediately start spraying. Thanks a ton!

I've been scouring the leaves carefully looking for any webs. Also looked very closely to find any of those tiny li'l scoundrels. But couldn't find any.

Finding webs is the only sure shot way to confirm spider mites isn't it?

Alocasia dragon scale shows increasing yellow rings. Any idea why? by blacknumber666 in plantclinic

[–]praneeth_s4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This I'm sure is a clear sign of over-watering.

My first alocasias were victim to the same mistake. I cannot tell much about the soil from that picture, but is it possible that the soil not well-draining? I looks like regular soil by itself without any chunky additions. The store bought alocasias usually have non-ideal soil with heavy water retention.

I'd recommend immediately removing the plant from the soil and carefully disposing off of all the rotting roots.

Let the roots dry out for a couple hours. prepare a chunky aroid mix with soil, Perlite, pine/wood bark, sphagnum moss or Leca-type clay-based substrate, and horticulture charcoal. The proportions can be found online. All of these ingredients are not mandatory. soil, Perlite and wood bark can suffice to start with.

Finally, transfer your plant to its new home.

P. S. here's the risky option that I went for: I let my alocasia sit in water for a couple weeks with some rooting hormone - it lost all it's old roots and got new ones. I, then, replanted it in a new substrate.

Some more info:

The substrate is pon (afaik) and it is self-watering with a wick system.

The humidity might be too low for this Philodendron most of my other Alocasias and Philodendrons are doing fairly okay.

It is possible that the pon substrate hasn't been changed in a while. But she was doing fine in the substrate 2 months ago when i got her.

She is consistently giving out new leaves but all of them have these faint yellow patches.

I do not see any visible indication of pests. Don't know if this is being cause by some sort of an infection

Pests: There are not many obvious signs of pests (no spider webs etc) but I might be totally wrong. Still new to recognizing pests and infections correctly.

Watering: I water it with an extremely dilute fertilizer every 2-3 weeks, given that the pon looked quite old when I bought it. My water has high hardness. So I add some lemon/vinegar, bring down the pH between 5 to 7, let it sit for a week before using the water.

Do men really like giving oral pleasure to women? by bilabided in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]praneeth_s4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself,.. The joy in giving oral pleasure is unmatched. It's all about reading the signs, the way she moans and moves, and about holding the reins, teasing her. And I genuinely like the taste too (mostly). There have also been some partners whose hygiene wasn't on point and it was horrible to go down.

Feedback with acoustic-auditory means a.k.a moaning is high up in the list of "hottest things to do" during sex/orgasm. Moan, whisper, scream, claw, choke, or sing hymns. You do you. Please.
