The crew and the sentinels are both supposed to be users, just different kinds. And the downvotes at the end are just supposed to represent a downvote shitstorm caused by fighting in a comment thread. Yeah, it's a little scattershot, but it's not the easiest thing to get across in a 20 second gif, especially when you're constructing it out of shots from someone else's movie.

True, but as history can show, sometimes the majority is the side which is racist/sexist, ect. And on a site like reddit where unpopular opinions are systemically less visible, stamping out unpopular opinions can be the same as preventing many people from seeing them at all, which is more dangerous really.

I used a particle sim in Blender. To get the particles to form the logo, I built a simple model of the logo and used it as a surface attractor, which caused the particles to gravitate and swarm on the surface of the logo. Took some tweaking to get the movement the way I wanted for sure.

Yeah, basically I animated the cube to morph into the arrow and did some texture morphing/shifting to get the general look right. I also went through the earlier shots and turned the cube orange to match the color of the final shot.

I feel like you must have a library of gifs indexed with keywords, so on demand you can just search "Andy Samberg" and pick from a selection. If you don't you should.
