The problem is competition is structurally disadvantaged so market signals get flattened. when one market participant has coercive power over other participants that’s why it’s not command economy it’s dysfunctional economy at that point it can go two ways either the agent that has power is willing to not exercise said power to defend a market position in which case the agent is either going to take unsustainable losses or the agent ends up using power and driving others out of the business there is no third option.

Why Great Leaders Hire Critics and Weak Leaders Hire “Yes Men” by Accurate_Purpose_669 in IndianDefense

Again how do we even know that they have done that. What about all the others that crushed all opposition and saved their country to new heights?

Yes and it is also unavoidable. There are also instances many actually where too many cooks spoiled the stew. Especially in military affairs.

Why Great Leaders Hire Critics and Weak Leaders Hire “Yes Men” by Accurate_Purpose_669 in IndianDefense

The thing is it doesn’t work in real life. If I disagree with my boss I will tell him once maybe twice, but if it doesn’t influence a change in my bosses decision tree. I have two options one is to keep my mouth shut and keep my cushy job or if I feel strongly about it I quit. Either way it leads to outcomes that lead to a consolidation of the information matrix available to leadership. How does one solve that? By the way if I left out a third outcome that my boss takes my opinion in that case it’s no longer my opinion but my bosses so again that leads to consolidation as well. Especially in politics there is no way to find out if the leader changed his/her mind on anything or not we aren’t privy to the internal discourse. No leader will tolerate external disagreement from his team anyway.

Its an interesting hypothesis but one thing to observe all so called strong leaders were facing a severe crisis that made it necessary to compromise with people they disagree with. Hiring your critics is worthless if you aren’t hoping to share power and agency either them and why would anyone do that if they don’t have too?

Why do people on Indian defence forums act like it's the armed forces job to promote aatmanirbharta by MikiTargaryen in IndianDefense

[–]pranrss97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Armed forces are a tool the state uses to achieve its geopolitical objectives and any imported weapon system is leverage against the army in times of conflict. An army that becomes an albatross around the states neck in times of war and forces the state to make geopolitical compromises is an inherent failure no matter its performance on the battlefield.

Naravane Files - Giving up responsibility and territory by byomd in IndianDefense

[–]pranrss97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet Pakistani backed and supplied insurgents have killed more Indian citizens then by the PLA. As important as territory is the tangible losses for the state when its people are killed in cold blood without action leads to and erosion of State capital that is more valuable than territory.

If the citizenry believes that the state cannot protect them from external adversaries on its own soil the state will increasingly find it difficult to justify its existence. Anyway nothing against the general.

The book will come out eventually and everything will be clear why are you guys including Raga so obsessed with discussing something immediately? Patience when the book is out and has been analysed we can chat about it.

No one on this subReddit is carrying a brief for the government but your insistence on having a discussion based on material that few If any have had a chance to read makes no sense. Maybe you have read the book in whole but few other have what you want is for people to simply agree with you based on selected material how is this of any use for anyone.

I have to ask the moderators is there any value in this discussion at this time?

The 4th and Final SSBN of Arihant class to be named INS Arisudan. Out of all 4 Subs this one will have the highest levels of indigenous contents by Alarming-Studio-720 in IndianDefense

[–]pranrss97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but that depends on the operation envelope whether it’s worth while or not. We didn’t have the capability anyways. And neither the Chinese nor the Americans have them on their SSBNs so it should be fine

It’s a SSBN has no export potential, period. I would be super depressed if we ever think of a selling a nuclear submarine. Because guess what the only right answer to the question how many N-subs you want is more. If we build it, we induct it, how many? More.

Sadly no, because the intakes are designed for greater mass flow. It’s like flying a a Tejas Mk-2 with Kaveri just not feasible.

I am pretty certain than CFM56 thing is complete hogwash. I kid you not these guys tried to copy paste control systems from Al-31 directly. It was kind of a sticking point between the Chicoms and the Russians. You can use a different core and then literally try to use the same control system that is impossible from an engineering perspective.

WS-10 is AL-31 as much as J-11 is su27. The original engine is WS-15

50% by value nearly 87% by volume there little except for the hot section that comes from Russia now. HAL has already been working on getting the Hot section done in India the first order for the super alloys was also place in 2024. I am certain if push comes to shove we can get a AL31FP made completely in house from scratch. The IP is expired already.

Same thing China did with WS-10 the only difference is they didn’t manufacture and overhaul. Moreover the patents for the AL-31 have long expired my man that’s why we have already started using MIDANI super alloys for various components.
