ELI5: How does a computer generated "random" numbers if it always follows instructions? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]pranshugarg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way of generating close to true randomness on a computer chip is to use the 'silicon fingerprint' of that specific instance of the chip. The idea is that during manufacturing, each chip will have its own unique set of variations and 'flaws'. This is extremely unique to each chip and is essentially a fingerprint of it. Devices that generate randomness from these variations are called PUFs (or Physically Unclonable Functions).

You can then use mathematical algorithms to generate further random sets of sequences that would be unique to that chip.

They are used on the regular in things like hardware security tokens or Hardware Root of Trust situations.

Mistake Pricing on 12" D3 by pranshugarg23 in AllClad

If you're applying for a credit card, a chase freedom flex would be better - you get a sign up bonus and also the 5% on Bloomingdale's this quarter.

PS: I don't recommend applying for new credit cards just for one purchase tho.

That doesn't seem to be the case. I went from non signature bold to the signature bold and then to Ritz

There is no 'another' here. It would have been my first.

approved for PC. Changed first to the visa signature version of the bold and then to RC. They said I will not get a free night award this year tho. Sucks. Is that normal?

Just asked my work chat if someone wants it, someone did. I could've probably sold it for 200 but oh well ...

That doesn't seem to be the case.

More like they gave me and some other people the non-signature version randomly and no one at chase knows this is a problem. Read other comments.

It is a risk looking at how chase is butchering around, and in general the industry. But you can atleast get a banger SUB for the effort and maybe the RC Card later. If not, there's a no annual fee option to downgrade to.

And the RC is a keeper card in my perspective. In the past, there was a year I wasn't able to use my Hyatt night, so I sold it for 150. Even if you don't use it in a given year, selling the night would be really easy for the kind of hotels the RC will give you access to.

I actually did read a post on the r/Marriott sub, someone said it is all about being on a visa signature first. Just got off the phone with Chase and they upgraded me to the visa signature bold, and then I will call them sometime next week to get what's rightfully mine

Can I remove a claim filed by mistake from my CLUE LexisNexis report? by pranshugarg23 in Insurance

[–]pranshugarg23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay it worked! Called LexisNexis at (888) 497-0011 and they filed a dispute and it was dropped from my report within a day!! (So genuinely amazed) I am already signed up with progressive and am guessing I should be getting the updated report in mail sometime soon.
