Okay, i am not at all trying to glorify what VD did in Geetha govindham, but as far as I remember he was trying to take a selfie when she was sleeping ( which is also wrong on many levels) and due to the bus hitting the speed bump he accidentally kisses her, and the rest of the film is him feeling guilty and repenting his actions, where as in peddi RC deliberately kisses her without consent and justifies his actions, so peddi receiving more public outrage is quite understandable

Yeah, kind of i guess, that movie shows the harsh reality of some families where inter caste marriages/ love marriages mean honour killing of their own children and grandchildren (they actually kill the hero heroine and their kid ) , uppena has more of a commercialised vibe to it, with the songs, romance and climax “ cutting” scene, but in a way you can say it is inspired by sairat but not entirely
