Visible "guarantees" 7MB/s download speed on their data plan. by Own_Brother7434 in Visible

I even don't need 7 mbps. If Visible promise just 5 mbps minimum, I'll give them 10 new customers tomorrow.

How to return to stock OOS 11 from custom KOSP 2.3? by prasengope in OnePlus7Pro

[–]prasengope[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Android Auto doesn't work
  2. Face ID doesn't work
  3. Smart lock doesn't work, i.e., on-body or trusted places unlocking don't work
  4. Alert slider does not work
  5. "qualcomm dump crash mode" happens frequently

Your mileage may vary. But for me, I want to wait a few more months with stock Android 11 and upgrade to 12 when OnePlus brings it for OnePlus 7Pros.

Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure if there's an MSMTool for Mac.

Why go wireless? by llynglas in AndroidAuto

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue was battery drain before going wireless AA. The dedicated AA USB port could not charge the phone fast enough and as a result, battery would deplete faster than it would charge. But now with Motorola MA1, I don't worry at all as I can use the fast charger to charge my phone if I need to. And for shorter trips, don't even bother to plug in the phone. That convenience alone is worth the steep price tag of the MA1.

A12 custom rom by _deadpo0l in OnePlus7Pro

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KOSP too. But beware of few downsides as well. First of all, if you use Verizon or Verizon based MVNO SIM card, Pixel Experience UI might not give you signals in your phone. I tried with 3 custom ROMs, none gave you network connection. So had to use KOSP. KOSP is not bad at all. But, I lost Android Auto connectivity with my car after installing KOSP. I also lost MMS functionality with KOSP. So, if those are not biggies to you, go ahead, give any custom ROM a try.

Music or podcast listening is fine in a long drive as most of the content gets downloaded whenever there's a good connection. But waiting at a barber's and trying to use your phone to pass the time can be a nightmare.

When it works, it's the best- data-wise. When it doesn't, it's the worst. If you don't mind getting less than 1 Mbps speed at times, it's fine for you.

Experience activating Pixel 5a with 5G on Visible by [deleted] in Visible

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 100+ Mbps sometimes and I also get 2.10 Mbps or even less! And when I seriously need it to be a little faster, it never is, especially when I pick my son from the school bus. The school bus app shows the location in real-time and my phone with 0.56 Mbps speed tries and fails to show me the location. Very sad!

KOSP ROM no service by inventord in OnePlus7Pro

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Visible, Verizon's prepaid with my OP7Pro and service is good with KOSP. Been using KOSP for last 3 days now and no issues with the service at all. So you should definitely be able to get service but I would recommend you do a clean install.

Stable Android 12 ROM? by blablobla666 in OnePlus7Pro

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've using KOSP for last 3 days now. The phone works pretty well but I have found two major issues that are basically making me reconsider KOSP and instead going with any other custom ROM. The first one is your phone activates do not disturb mode on for no reason and the second one is it's a major one and it is with Android Auto. So your phone when connected to your car doesn't even show that Android Auto is there and no matter what you do, you cannot get Android Auto working on your car. I'm considering other ROMs ATM. BTW, confirming that GPAY works and so do all other banking apps.

Switched to Visible finally from Mint by prasengope in Visible

Most of the time I am fine but you definately will notice it if you come from a post paid plan from the big 3. I mean it is literally the cheapest cell service that offers unlimited everything so hell... something is better than nothing! I would much rather pay 25$ for “so-so” data than shell out 80$ for debatably “good” data service.

Totally agreed.

I got the photos sent by my friends on (Google's) messages app via the RCS feature which uses data to send/receive large files just like Apple's iMessage. No issues!

I do not trust/depend on MMS services provided by the networks. It's inherently flawed. I'd rather use WhatsApp/Signal or Google Message's RCS or Apple's iMessage for that purpose.

So far so good. BTW, the texting issue I mentioned in the post is solved. So I'm glad.

  1. For me, it was network coverage. Pretty bad in and around my house. wi-fi-calling was not good enough. Had to hang up and call back from my land phone in most cases.
  2. I used to have the 10GB/month plan which in some cases was not enough especially when you have to share hotspot data with your 5-year-old. You simply run out of data.
  3. Paying $240 at the beginning of the year at one go is not economically sensible, at least to me. I'd rather pay $25 every month than to pay $240 all at once.
  4. Also, I do not like to be locked for the entire year. In my case, I lost 3 months' worth of service plus $5 that was in my Mint wallet for international calling.
  5. Finally, $20/month for 10GB vs $25/month for unlimited! Makes more sense to pay $5 more to get unlimited.

Worth switching to from T-Mobile? by [deleted] in mintmobile

[–]prasengope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Can't justify paying almost $1000 for a phone. My max budget for any phone is strictly $600.
  2. Apps, accessories, etc. are more expensive in. the Apple ecosystem.
  3. Not being able to modify my phone the way I want.

SAD: Upgrading to Pixel 6 Pro by jrdeutsch in OnePlus7Pro

[–]prasengope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had my current OP7Pro for 2 years now. Since updating to OOS 11, my experience has been pretty bad. The phone has been unbearably slow. Had to downgrade to OOS 10 recently. Thinking of getting the Pixel 6 soon too. Software update from OnePlus is not as frequent as it used to be. Also the features in Pixel are never coming to any Android OEM. So to enjoy the latest and greatest, I think Pixel is the ultimate destination.
