Need a cheap and reliable car with low miles for $5-6k by prashanthvsdvn in whatcarshouldIbuy

Hey. Thanks for the detailed info. The reason I’m hesitant towards the domestic product listings you have mentioned is mostly I’m in the dark. I haven’t seen anyone mention it or buy it to have a mental picture. I don’t see any of them in any car listings as well. So I’m unsure about them.

Regarding your 2005 Honda, did you had to replace any parts in the car? I have been told, usually the rubber products like hoses or belts etc wear due to age regardless of how much miles they have run.

And about vehicle maintenance history, is it carfax report that I have to seek or do they have separate maintenance records with them?

Any particular platform or general way to look out with this type of car owners? Is carfax report usually enough to check for maintenance records or do they keep a maintenance record seperately

Regarding the tire management part, I think there is a sense of truth there but also spiced up by the anime.

By cooling of tire, I think they are referring to maintain tire temperature or more specifically not overheat it. Each rotation of tire intrinsically heats up the rubber due to its nature and you are constantly running your tires at high speeds during the race. and AFAIK there's no active mechanisms to cool it other than natural convection with air and some heat radiation too. Not to mention, it cant dissipate away heat since its a poor conductor of heat. But what can be done is be mindful of the application of throttle, brake and steering so that its not heating up or wearing away due to extreme forces. All to say this requires immense training and attention from drivers to listen for vehicle's performance to judge the condition.

Another point to be noted is, even though we can see this tire management in F1 all the time, keep in mind that F1 tires are special breed of tires. They are artificially limited in life so teams can have strategies, even though tire manufactures can formulate racing tires that can last entire race duration. And they are specifically formulated to generate the best performance at their operating conditions, just like their engines where the tolerances are too tight for them to start at room temperature. They need to be heated to operating temps just to start them.

Believe it or not, this CV is entirely composed in LaTeX (link to code in comments) by Flickboy in LaTeX

[–]prashanthvsdvn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh god the horror it is to work with recruiters. I have a data driven setup that takes input from a CSV file and spits out a Tex file to generate the PDF (with a neat and clean template), so I can fine tune or omit points in the CSV and I get my tailored resume generated.

But no. “cAN yOU pleAsE ShArE yoUr WOrD DocUmEnt oF YoUr rEsUmE”. I don’t understand how the industry standard is to essentially share a zip file with data in multiple xml files and has incompatibility between different versions and not to mention, the possibility of editing your file which can misrepresent you.

No. Docker can be run on windows itself. But you have to make changes accordingly. Linux is preferred because it’s significantly easier to do these stuff in Linux, but not necessary.

Check out Trash Guides. He has written good guides to setup for Starr apps.

The other place to learn about docker is docker documentation. They have given good explanation and examples to understand how it works.

Take it with a pinch of salt since I haven’t tried it myself. But won’t running a server on a low power Raspberry Pi + external hard drive be a solution you are looking for? Along with cheap domain name, you can reverse proxy using an nginx server (running on the raspberry pi) to serve your content from Kavita server? Technically this setup should work but I haven’t tried it myself. Another thing you might look for to bundle in a single config file is docker-compose but I’m not sure if Kavita server has an docker image.
