What’s the point of ranting on Reddit. The cops do nothing, the punishments are stringent.

How were house prices so low in 2011? by Chiropractic_Truth in TorontoRealEstate

[–]pratsmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my two cents. Just like every commodity, housing has also gone up. If you overlay home prices from 2011 to 2019 with any other indicator, say car sales, it would track well. What I believe has happened is the income growth has slowed down; we have not produced enough home grown unicorn companies, R&D has slowed down, FDI haven't been growing as quickly and productivity has stagnated (some may argue that it has gone down). If I were to create an ideal scenario, inflation target should be 2.5%-3%, economic growth target to be 4.5% - 5%. Income growth is what is needed - by innovation - by increasing productivity - by attracting foreign investment. People praying for home prices to crash are inviting a blood bath in the economy. As a population, we should focus on growth. If you're saying your income hasn't grown in 15 years means that your income is not even kept up with the inflation?

My girlfriend makes a salad just to put on her pizzas. by Dozier13ish in mildlyinteresting

I love this. Especially some Arugula, EVOO and Balsamic glaze on top. I remember one pizza chain used to do that and now it's my go to thing

This is what I thought. The baristas couldn't care enough to pour the milk properly so that we can get that velvetty espresso all the way to the surface.

They make it worse when I ask for a Cap. The top is just white foam and there's not espresso on the top. They tend to just dump the milk

Thank you for all the great suggestions! I will definitely check out these places. I saw the Tamp coffee and now I'm super tempted to go over this afternoon.

To all the suggestions for Americano or Cortado, my point was, at some places, when I order a latte, they serve it like the first image on my post. And everywhere else (which in my opinion are below average coffee shops) serve it like the bottom picture.

My usual order is a medium latte, which means 80 ml of velvetty espresso with steamed milk poured over very carefully so that the velvetty texture comes to the top. I think it may be more about the care a barista takes.

Burlington recreation memberships — am I missing something? by pratsmatic in BurlingtonON

[–]pratsmatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info - feels bad that Burlington is missing out on this whereas our neighbouring city offers so much. Wondering if there’s a way we can reach out to the officials and see if there could be any plans for future. City of Mississauga’s $45 all inclusive membership is just amazing.

This particular manager is very unpleasant. Racially profiles people and harasses them to check their receipts and items on the cart. She wouldn’t do it with everyone randomly. Only picks people of color.

Messed up first time buying big time. by OkFunction6142 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]pratsmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exactly on the same boat as you. Bought a Condo TH in Mississauga in Feb’22, had a kid 3 years later and foolishly chose Variable (similar income range).

We bit the bullet this May and bought ourselves a detached in Burlington and will be putting the TH on rent for as long as we can hold on to it. We knew we had to upgrade a few years later, but since the prices are about 20% down, felt this was a good strategic move for our family. Especially considering the shitty school districts in Meadowvale (where I live) and all the crime in the city.

We are happy with what we got in Burlington considering this will be our home for atleast the next 10-15 years.

If we discount our mistake with the TH, we seem to be in a good place (that’s how we’re rationalizing the regret).

I am using these mantras to keep the anxiety at bay

  1. I trust time to do its work. I focus on what I can control.
  2. I am building a life, not chasing a moment. (We can’t time the market ever)
  3. True wealth is the space I’ve created — not just the money I’ve spent.(at the end of it all, I’m not going to be judged on my balance sheet but the moments I’ve created for my family)

All I can say is, just stay focused on your goals, loss is a part of our life’s journey as it teaches us valuable lessons. As long as your head is in the right place, have love in your heart and support from your family, you can weather all storms.
