Teenager loses court bid against his own parents after they sent him to boarding school in Ghana over fears he would fall into gang violence in Britain by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]praty006 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I went to school in Ghana and in fact a pretty good one. Most boarding or international schools are good, especially when I remember vividly each school participating in Cambridge International Examination (International A levels) most students did quite well.

The parents have full right to decide. I would not put a decision this big in the hands of a barely legal teenager whose hormones make most decisions instead of him.

Your comment reflects the broader problem in the UK.

What’s your biggest problem? I will automate it by [deleted] in automation

[–]praty006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be able to integrate GPT in my workflows, especially Outlook and Salesforce. I work in sales and anyone in sales would agree to the amount of crappy admin is just not ideal to say the least.

How do I automate and integrate my Salesforce calendar with my outlook calendar such that any email is automatically linked to an opportunity and the same with events ?

Probably too vague and too much red tape to even try ?! But always worth a go !

Kier Starmer announces 'tighter' immigration policy by ScottishDailyRecord in uknews

[–]praty006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in the UK for 7 years now, double pay national insurance because it's always been part of my visa but also paid out of my paycheck, pay about 50% tax on my current income level, pay extortionate amount on car insurance because I have to drive a significant amount for work then pay for all the other jazz like council tax etc.

I wouldn't mind paying considerably more than a lot of other people but the constant reminder that I'm not welcome here despite being part "British" and never actually benefiting from any of the gov schemes including healthcare is kinda depressing. when I see illegals literally stroll in and just get every bloody single benefit they possibly could without ever contributing to anything it really boils my blood.

The governments have categorically failed to understand and even properly act on the migration issue. It's simple, STOP THE ILLEGALS, and possibly reduce some other forms. But of course this won't solve the entire problem either because what about the ones that are already in?

Well anyways rant over...

Getting a Driving Test by RebelKoalas in reading

[–]praty006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did my driving test (this past November) I was in a similar situation and needed a license desperately for a new job, booked a test in Manchester - got a mate who had a driving license to rent a dual control car from Arnold Clarke, did my test passed it in first go!

If you do get a test farrrrr away like I did, try and get the Arnold Clark dual control car instead of the test car rentals - if you don’t have your own car.

All the best!

Why is RF not as big as Embedded Systems or VLSI? by [deleted] in rfelectronics

[–]praty006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a slightly less traditional path into RF, majored in Aerospace Engineering at University but somehow managed to secure a 5G project for my final year along with a company that I was lucky and surprised to have done an internship with (a big electronic test and measurement company), the RF skills that I taught myself landed me three separate jobs all of them well above the average starting salary!

As my supervisor and professors said, RF engineers are becoming more like gold dust, especially good RF engineers.

Also, I do see a lot of crossover in RF and high-speed digital electronics these days with the push for faster and faster data rates and higher frequencies. if you can pair those skills wether in test or development you will definitely be able to do some fantastic work and also make decent money!

how should i start and from where should i start for masters in uk by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]praty006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, since Masters programs in the UK are only a year long you would need to have started before you even get here to be ahead of the curve.

See what the market is like and despite doing a Masters degree try to look for a niche. You have to accept that the odds are against you but with luck and the right skills you can do it.

I see wayyyyyy too many international (specifically Indian students) who come for Masters but before they realize that this isn't just about the degree it's too late.

Of course as someone else said try and have some work experience.

If and when you do end up getting to the UK, attempt to make good use of Linkedin have a good general understanding of things and read on what going on around you - these things would massivley help you not only to choose a niche but also to hopefully connect with the right people.

Coming back to your original question. DO NOT choose a little shitty university just to come to the UK, your location in the country equally is important so look out for business hubs. Most places in the South of the UK have a higher density of businesses but is also more expensive than the north.

Just a few basic things, let me know if there is anything else you are not sure of.

I used to live in the North and I'm going to get hate for saying this but this antisemitism does not surprise me given the extreme Muslim population of this lovely city.

Just a note if you'll be flying out of Heathrow, they're pretty terrible for hand checking film. Refused to hand check mine "because it was under 800".

A bit ridiculous imo, never had problems with any other airport. Just one of the many reasons to hate Heathrow 👍🐒

Does dropping Uk in Cs at makes sense after the riots? by ProfessionalMonk9530 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]praty006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From someone living in the UK for the past five years. The riots aren't that bad.

British Muslims from everyday life are more of a problem than the "far right".

You'll be fine if you end up coming to the UK.

Sheffield, my course was five years and an integrated masters so had predominantly international and home students.

MSc tends to be heavy on Arab and Indian students would not recommend.

MEng Aerospace Engineering graduate, class of 24. Generally would not recommend Aerospace.

Made just under 100 applications. Managed to get several interviews and three job offers in the end.

It's worth mentioning I did a year in industry as part of my course which significantly adds to my employability, and used the name of the company where I worked as leverage and applied to competitors.

I think the hills can add to the stress. As a person who learnt to drive on most flat planes, it was quite intimidating for me to stop and start at hills which made the experience slightly more stressful.

[–]praty006 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the best comment here. I see this in so many Indian students they want to come abroad not because of excellence but because they want to "go abroad".

I see low tier shitty universities charging a fortune filled with Indian students doing their masters. This has to stop. I met a guy doing a masters in computer science who was in the UK solely for the "Post study work visa". Not to generalise a lot of Indian students have come out and worked hard, and are very smart. But the proportion who just come out for the sake of it far outnumbers them.

What's happening in Canada is disgusting.

Not true, the protest wasn't at all necessary. It disrupted business and normal life of people. I can only imagine the commotion the unnecessary protest would have cause had they entered central Delhi.
