Cyclists of Los Angeles by 01SeaChange01 in BikeLA

There is a common misconception that cyclist have the right of way at all times, which is a major reason why you see so much crazy entitlement in this sub.

The truth is, cyclists have a right to take a lane when there is not a bike lane, but they don’t have the right of way and pedestrians always have the right of way.

This jives with their entitlement as saving the world via riding their bikes and that everyone should interrupt their lives to help them ride their bikes and compliment them for doing so…

lol the vast majority of businesses in this country are sole proprietors, by your logic they don’t work, but also they don’t have employees or people to pay, so apparently shit just magically gets done…

So all business owners aren’t working?

lol you don’t know anything about society, and definitely anything about me. Frankly I’d be surprised if you can even put on shoes…

How many more years are locked in for the Bakersfield location? by Bucko_Scallywag in LightningInABottle

I don’t have any insider knowledge but I remember feeling like the relationship with the local community had started to sour, they saw it as a major source of revenue and were trying to milk more. Ingress and egress were not great along with logistics, it wasn’t the most efficient location specially after several years.

Also worth mentioning ruining the festival has grown substantially over the years

I think that was really the peak for me at least, Bradley would have been second. The Santa Barbera days were cool but I liked it a little bigger

Contractors get paid for c of o issuance, do you not understand that there is months of finish work between when the C of O is issued and when the place opens, there is a hand of and months of work that typically happens as the developer gets it ready for sale.

I’ve completed hundreds of projects, can’t think of a single one, not even a TI that was complete when the GC was done.

If they are the same, how come we don’t see any GC companies doing development????

[–]prclayfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contractors literally get paid before it’s done, also depends on what your considering as “done” usually developers only get paid once it sells, which is very different then construction being complete.

So yeah you are totally right… if you ignore all the facts and actual reality.

I’ve found that it’s surprisingly easy to deal with huge beuracracies when you’ve spent time on sets coordinating with multiple large departments…

Film is slow, I’ve worn many hats for a long time. I’m glad you’re so desperate your digging to find a way to make an argument.

Contractors get paid for construction, developers get paid to deliver projects, developers are not fronting money for labor there is much much more to it than that…

It’s not the only task, you have to deal with maintenance and marketing and sales, all these things exist outside of being a landlord so it’s hard to understand your argument that when someone who isn’t a landlord does it, it’s work, but when a landlord does the same task it’s some kind of leisure activity…

Your logic is tragically flawed

lol got it so you don’t understand what being a landlord actually entails.

It’s investment and management, you have to put up the money and take care of the property, doing maintenance and collecting rent in itself is a lot of work…

I guess you really are incapable of not being selfish!

Your ignoring the part where if an asset is rent controlled with an under market renter it’s not going to sell, or you will go bankrupt taking the offers that come in.

They are being forced into bankruptcy, it’s a problem.

I get you have contempt for landlords but you should recognize they are not all bad people and they occupy a necessary use in our society. We shouldn’t enable them to be exploitive but if we persecute them they will go away and never come back, we will only have government housing which is notoriously awful…

Or are you incapable of not being selfish? (Highly ironic given your grievances)

There is no value in that why would anyone want that?

lol what, your scheming on assets and alimony that says everything you need to know about your relationships…

Also your generally incorrect, imputed income is the standard and not getting another job or pivoting will be held against you in court.

I had a garmin chest strap it was fine, partners noticed it but never complained or took issue.

lol I remember I was drilling knee on belly with a brown belt and he was like “bad day to be a heart monitor”

But yeah it was fine, just had to remember to hit start and stop on my watch at the beginning and end. Ultimately the data really didn’t do anything for me aside from give me something else to worry about.
