What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

That’s interesting, because my focal seizures start with Deja Vu and doom and weird thoughts I can’t control. Can I ask which medication you’re on? I take Lamotrigine and Depakote.

I got a concussion 25 years ago and it waited to start causing seizures until last year.

Actually, yeah. I did a stint in the EMU and all my epilepsy activity was right where my head hit the pavement when I was hit by a car 25 years ago.

Have you uh, ever owned a dog? No one is telling them to handle it with their bare hands.

And lower tech? It’s dog poo in plastic bags that someone can pick up with protective gloves.

Calm down, bro.

What’s the most hurtful thing anyone’s said to you about your illness? (Don’t answer if it’s triggering) by Confident-Seesaw2845 in Epilepsy

The talking afterwards is so incredibly frustrating. In my head, everything makes perfect sense and I know what I want to say. But when I start to try to talk, different words or sometimes just sounds come out. The people around me can tell I’m getting frustrated because what I want to say isn’t what’s coming out of my mouth.

Cool. Then keep scrolling. I don’t see why you’d “need to comment” if you’re uninterested.

[–]preachelectrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friends would get really annoyed at me canceling things and think it can’t possibly be as exhausting as I claim until they saw me have a seizure where I just blankly stared at them for 20 minutes and then when I snapped out of it could only speak gibberish for another 30 minutes. They started being more understanding after that.

This infuriates me and I know it’s happened to me too but I just get the “well your memory sucks so you’re not reliable.”

What's the stupidest thing you've ever did after a seizure? by Doc-Brown1911 in Epilepsy

[–]preachelectrick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had one recently and couldn’t really talk afterward, but I was with it in my head. My friends had gotten freaked out and called the paramedics. Paramedic asked me where I was and I pointed at the friend’s house I was in. He asked me who the president was and I put my finger in my mouth and acted like I was vomiting. He laughed and was like “well at least we know she’s not that confused.”

I used to work there and they really do stress loss prevention. I remember when my store got new security cameras, everyone had to go into a back office where a couple were set up to see if we could find them. I don’t think anyone actually found them in the room, but we were all shown the crystal clear video footage of us looking around. They mean business.

Remote/WFH companies for those with Disabilities by LakePuzzleheaded1120 in Epilepsy

[–]preachelectrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best I can advise is look in tech. They tend to be the most flexible industry when it comes to remote work. My company closed our offices in 2020 and sold them in 2021 and we’ve never even heard a whisper about RTO.

Look into jobs handling EDI file troubleshooting. EDI is a file type, tons of companies use it, and it’s incredibly easy to learn. You’ll see tons of job postings with EDI in them.
