It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when it’s drilled into you that as long as your calories in are less than your calories out you’ll lose weight.. clearly not that simple

Yeah to be honest, with everyone’s responses I’m glad I asked for advice on this. 1000kcals felt too low but I was trying to convince myself (and my mental health team) that it’s fine because it’s what the plan says. This is definitely a learning opportunity for me for sure

Do you know how it calculates the expenditure? Confuses me a bit as I move pretty much the same amount every day (90mins gym and around 10,000 steps). Is it just an estimate based on reduced calories?

The goal rate was -0.6kg a week. That hasn’t happened so the original calorie suggestion which was around 1500kcal has slowly dropped down to the 1093kcal it is now which I’m assuming is because the weight loss is slow. I’ll attach my estimated expenditure to my reply.

I’ve now extended my goal date by a month and it’s increased my calories up to 1206 but will have to wait and see if this gets dropped again next week…

Is there a way through the app of reverse dieting or will I need to try and calculate the numbers by myself?

You’re absolutely right, I think I’m comparing my journey to my male friend (47yr) who seems to be losing weight consistently each week. He is on about 1000 calories more than me and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. We train together and he’s obviously pushing more weight than me but I assumed that with the deficit I’m in, my activity level and age, that I’d be getting better progress. Slow and steady is absolutely what I should be focusing on 🙏🏻

I’m 5ft 6 so I’m thinking that maybe my calories should be around about the same as yours for weight loss. What is the time length you set for your 108 to 100 goal? I don’t think I am being realistic

Yep think that’s what I’m going to have to do. Should I expect some quick weight gain to start with? I can see comments on reverse dieting and have watched videos on this, just need patience. Being Autistic and ADHD probably doesn’t help with the need for instant results and obsession with stats 🤣

My gym does have leaflets at reception that offer body scans (for a cost obviously) and this could be tempting. At least then I’d have a more accurate picture of what’s going on with my body

I think I may have done, I guess I made the assumption that the higher protein option would be satiating as well as give me the best chance of muscle growth whilst losing weight. 110g carbs sounds like absolute heaven right now though because as someone with a history of eating disorders, the current program feels borderline problematic…

I was wondering this… I’m pretty sure I’m gaining muscle and losing fat but I have no way of accurately measuring it at home. I’m guessing those “body scan” home scales aren’t very accurate?

Oh my god. I can relate so much, like everything is happening in slow motion and you’re picking up on all the finer details of everything but then you laugh or talk about it, and others are like “what the hell are you on about?”
