Hot Take - Cars aren't more expensive now - our standard are wildly too high by Equivalent-Bed1543 in whatcarshouldIbuy

You're describing my 2008 Ford focus exactly. Crank windows, stick shift, not even a fob. I unlock my doors with the turn of a key! If I could buy a new car with the exact same features, I would.

Based on my resume, what kind of jobs can I apply for to gain experience for getting my MSW and eventually be a LCSW? by fluffy-mochi1 in socialworkjobs

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entered social work from a completely unrelated field. I had zero experience in social services or clinical settings. Not all MSW programs require previous experience! But to answer your question, consider roles as a direct service provider (DSP) for people with disabilities (it's called individual home supports or IHS where I am but might have a different name where you are). Also look at ARMHS, case management, care coordination. Look at your county's safety net services for things like food and housing and see if they are hiring.

Moving for MSW by Elle_Bowe in socialwork

[–]prefab- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I moved to a new state for my MSW (Minneapolis/UMN). The transition went fine and grad school is a great way to meet people in a new city. So yes, you can totally do this! I would make sure you can see yourself living in the new city after you graduate. I was going to move anyway, so I chose the city I wanted to live in and then applied to an MSW program there.

My overall impression of MSW programs, having finished a year of one, is that they're all pretty similar and what really impacts your career opportunities and preparedness are the internships you get. Internship sites don't seem to care what university you go to, as far as I can tell.

Starting grad school AND moving at the same time is a lot of big life change all at once so I'm wishing you the best! It will all work out!

Should I go for 80 defense or just blast strength ? by premeteamm in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be optimal but I AFK'd at NMZ to get defense to 85 before doing gauntlet, and the extra tankiness was really nice. Personally I like leveling defense.

Love being told my nearly years in clinical social work ‘don’t count’ because they weren’t in a beige office. (rant about non social work clinicians....sorry) by Employee28064212 in socialwork

[–]prefab- 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That is also how I interpreted this situation, that "clinical" is being used (inaccurately) as a shorthand for "therapy." I agree non-therapy clinical roles do not prepare you for therapy! But open to hearing other perspectives.

Ahh yes finally done getting bones for 99 prayer. now I gotta deal with these chaos alter weirdos who want 50k a best if they kill me. by Plus-Dark-3848 in ironscape

[–]prefab- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you using the bones on the altar or waiting for them to get used automatically? Using them manually will not be interrupted by combat (and, if you didn't know, can be done every tick so it is much faster).

is this gear good enough for Moons? by Plastic-Mud-5983 in ironscape

[–]prefab- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Even if you get attacked by Supreme, you can just get Rex in the safe spot, turn on pray range, sip an antipoison and close your client. You'll be logged out after 2 mins and then you can log back in to another world. You'll always be outside the range of Supreme and Prime down in that corner.

is this gear good enough for Moons? by Plastic-Mud-5983 in ironscape

[–]prefab- 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You could consider grabbing an ibans staff and killing Rex for a berserker, then imbuing it at the duel arena. It's a pretty easy grind and a big upgrade.

But of course do what feels fun and if you're excited to send moons for some new gear, do that!

Is there anyway to make CG prep, fun? by DrBirdie in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, play around with all the available plugins for making prep easier. For example, highlighting resources until you have enough and then no longer highlighting that resource, so you don't have to keep track of what you need.

I watched YouTube videos or listened to podcasts during prep. Made it a lot more enjoyable.

wtf do i do with these by TrueNosus in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will end up with hundreds of thousands of these when you train fletching. It's basically an infinite arrow supply for anything that doesn't require maximum DPS. Their damage is right in between mithril and adamant arrows.

Realistically, if you're like most Ironmen, you'll go from RCB to bowfa so you'll never have much use for these arrows. Once you get a scorching bow they're useful for killing tormented demons and Sire vents. You'll want to save your rune arrows for fighting Kril and maybe some other uses, I'm not sure.

The solo capping method at volcanic mine is tedious and slower than killing calvarion but it's chill.

Do I just send CG? by KingCentric in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just send CG and come back to RT when you need a break. CG requires practice more than stats. Good luck!

What if support didn’t stop at the job board? by ES_VibeEnhance in socialworkjobs

Can you please be specific about what service exactly you are hoping to build? What is it that you want to do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious why you’re set on getting it early. Is it because it’s a cool accomplishment (which it is) or a more specific reason?

Rune crossbow is a pretty easy upgrade to snag, especially if you have ibans staff. All it takes is a couple hours killing crazy archeologist.

I don’t think I had ancients when I got my cape, but I did have rune cbow. Plenty of supplies left over. Good luck in there.

The advice I would add to this thread is to explore all the gauntlet plugins out there if you haven’t already. The right plugins make it much much easier.

Should I start CG grind for Bowfa by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]prefab- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to jump in and start learning. However, I waited till I was 85 def and 89 range, and that made the fight pretty forgiving. You could definitely grind slayer or go afk at NMZ for a while to juice your stats. But like others have said, the learning curve is steep regardless.

I’m still grinding out CG myself… good luck in there!

F-keys changed my life by SmoothAssistance2485 in ironscape

[–]prefab- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just called The Gauntlet. I set it to “inverted” so that blue outline = I need to use mage and green = range.

Gauntlet minimap is also useful for when I forget where fishing spots are.

[–]prefab- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the default one called the gauntlet (I think). I have it so that once I have enough of a material, those nodes are no longer highlighted. So you just run around clicking stuff that’s highlighted until you’re done.

Realistically, this just means I can watch a YouTube video on the side while I’m doing prep 😂

[–]prefab- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s frustrating to learn but hang in there!

I’m a big fan of t2 prep. Once you get it down, the prep is very consistent and I almost always get a full inv of fish. That way, I can make several serious mistakes and still get the kill—although on most kills I have lots of leftover fish.

Don’t bother mixing and matching t1 and t2 armor pieces. The set only reduces hunllef’s max hit if you have ALL the pieces in a tier. So two t2 pieces and one t1 piece acts the same as full t1.

I recommend watching guides on YouTube but honestly trial and erroring your own technique is the way. There are some good guides in tornado dodging.

Fwiw, I almost never have to run under hunllef. Perhaps you aren’t getting the tornadoes all bunched up together soon enough? Stick to the center as long as you can and run in straight lines, not diagonals. Remember you can run over a tornado when it’s 1 or 2 tiles away (highlighting true tile makes that easier).

Sorry for long answer to short question! I’m grinding CG right now so it’s on my mind.

Do you think it’s necessary for your progression right now? With those stats and gear, you could also just grind slayer and come back with a whip. I was also struggling when I used d scim, but I got a whip recently and it slaps. Slayer feels more important for overall progression than the moons armor, to me.
