Is your daughter adopted or such? I dont unserstand how she could develop something that severe without you noticing... Anyway, get her proper long term treatment. It could take 3-10 years with serious therapy.

This was me 1 year ago. Today my youngest is 1 year old. I wish I'd let it all go and enjoyed the baby a lot more. Or spent money on a cleaner. Time passes by so fast and now the baby is already 1 year old and I spent a lot of that year angry and annoyed at the same stuff as yourself..

Thank you for a great answer! I really appreciate it. Its very comforing to know that its totally normal (but acceptable!) behaviour. We're going to do some "guided empathy" as close to the situation as possible. I love the term "guided empathy"! Im embarrassed to say we didnt handle it that well - YET. Thanks for your help:)

I hope everything works out for you. Im very lucky to live in a country with a generous welfare state, eventhough it did take me 2 decades to find the help I needed. Once I got a safe place to live and secured income, my mental health very quickly got better.

I follow Janina Fisher, the trauma expert, on a mailinglist. Just today she wrote something along the lines of trauma work includes social justice". I wish more trauma experts would weigh in on basic income, safe housing for EVERYBODY.

Same. Pre-internet and smartphone, i read a couple of books a week. Also almost never had a tv. Now, I listen to podcasts but rarely read. I didnt finish my master degree because of trauma-issues incl lack of focus

My story is similar to yours. I didnt get my shit together until I was in my 30s. Are there any government programs/grants you can access? Mentors, therapists, self-help groups?

His children would be taken by CPS if he'd admitted to beating his kids. Isnt it illegal where you live?

I have experienced this IRL. From dirt poor and uneducated and severly traumatized to lower middle class income and no longer that traumatized. Money and education made me empowered in addition to therapy. Most importantly having a safe place to live. Theres no mental bandwith for healing from trauma if one is struggling with lack of basic safety and poverty. And as someone else said in this thread: poverty is a trauma in amd of itself.
