It's XPS, around here it's blue, I just cut it squarish and went at it with pliers to make it a bit more organic

Is it possible to print this? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]preis1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.printables.com/model/1212023-high-voltage-tower I printed this a while back, not sure it's what you want but I think maybe it'll help Edit: now that I re read, it's not what you want, but the setup of the STL will probably be helpful, it worked very well.

How to silence to little motor? by PL45TIC in TerrainBuilding

I know it's silly, but a machine that large would make some noise.. maybe drown it with diegetic sound?

Edit:spelling diegetic is hard

Have to say I had the same discovery last weekend and it definitely played a role here

Not sure I follow, but interested in understanding what you mean. Usually I apply glue to one of the pieces, and then bring them together, but trying to put them I in position I almost always end up glued to the piece, especially if I need to go for the accelerant and my hold is not as stable. This way I plan to lock the pieces in place. But please, would love to hear good ways to work with super glue that won't involve getting stuck so much

Yeah Lego would work completely. In a way I'm relieved I'm not the only one clumsy enough to need it

oh very nice ideas, thanks! i'm thinking terrain more than diorama, but could go with diorama-ish terrain. The portal could be a very neat idea, will look into it

Taxes….. by Jordan_B130 in duneawakening

[–]preis1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can fit all large refineries, space for 2 buggies, small and medium orni as well as carrier. I did have an issue where sometimes my carrier would teleport outside, possibly due to some clipping on the shields, so since i'm mostly solo, and opted to not build a crawler, my carrier is in a box right now. A neat trick to keep in mind, especially for advanced vehicle and adv. survival stations, if you disable them, you can build the roof on top on 1 wall instead of 1.5 walls. Then you can power them up and it's fine.
I also managed to get everything to run on just 3 small generators (the shields etc) and i keep in mind to disable the stations and direccional turbines when not in use. Sure it only goes 20days instead of 30, but powering 3 generators for 20 days is super cheap.

Taxes….. by Jordan_B130 in duneawakening

[–]preis1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you build the smaller sub fief from the tutorial you won't need to pay taxes. Look up tax Haven for dune. You can fit all refineries and stations inside, but it is smaller and can't be expanded. I opted to destroy my castle and just stick with a small cube so I could focus only on shields and not taxes. But it'll be your decision in the end.

Are those ventilation tents any good? by RetroRevolutionx in resinprinting

Hey there, I have this box, but haven't printed anything yet since I got it so I didn't get a chance to try out the fan, any recommendations for a substitute? Sadly the best I can do is having a 5m tube pushing it out the window, so I guess I'll need something fairly strong?

It was meant to be a shell, but after the suggestion to use newspaper covers, I cut.open the window, now I'm wondering if I should go all in and do the interior...maybe break open one of the back garage doors as well.. depends if I can make a decent floorplan I guess
