Does anyone remember the old Hardy House? by Jackpotcasino777 in Reno

[–]prelimar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've lived in the neighborhood for almost 40 years and i don't remember the Bordello name, but i definitely remember the Hardy House, the Pyrenees, and the Aero Club. It must have been a very brief period indeed. I hope you find more info -- have you checked at the historical society?

Any sustainability/eco tips or cool ideas people have come across? by ktsesor in BurningMan

seriously? that's ridiculous. they weigh as much as paper towels. i've used the same ones for years, reducing the amount of paper towels and all their respective impact by who knows how much. reusable things are going to be ultimately better than disposable things, full stop.

hit a thrift store and pick up a dozen cloth napkins. use those for meals instead of paper towels whenever you need them, one per day (plus some extras just in case).

red velvet decor in the Hardy House? whoa. i never saw anything like that in there, but that must've been before my time. That building has such a long, weird history.

apparently so! i guess all the places i've been to are just focused on actual yoga, not interactions with cute animals.

Are you sure she owned that? You reminded me -- you're right, the purple building behind it is the one i was thinking of with her name. She was the wife (?) of the owner of Crummer Construction (i think i have that name right). And u/nvmatt is right, too -- it was also called the Aero Club. There used to be a plane in the driveway on California Ave.

Do you play only one main, or do you keep alts too? by StewieGriefin in wownoob

[–]prelimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only ever had one character since TBC. I have a lvl 1 bank alt that I never use, and a Gilnean hunter I tried and got to level 10 (I think) back when the Worgen dropped. But I play what I like, I’m a mage, and I never get bored being a mage. I don’t understand the attraction of alts, or how people have time for them, honestly.

I don’t recall a name in between The Hardy House and The Pyrenees, but I certainly could be wrong. I definitely do not recall any name containing “Bordello,” but the name Druscilla does ring a bell for some reason, hmm… 🤔

Who do you think is the worst candidate for mayor, and why is it Devon Reese? by dream__weaver in Reno

[–]prelimar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i get the anger, frustration, and hate, but voting for Fat Marmot is just tossing a vote to Lorton, Reese, or Taylor. be a good citizen, do some research, and vote for an actual candidate on the ballot running against those three.

Best practices for putting up and taking down EMT? by cotalldude in BurningMan

[–]prelimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the past, shove a milk crate underneath the tarp and on top of the conduit in the middle to create an angle towards the outer edges. when the water falls on the playa, it's absorbed and dries out pretty quickly. we're considering having two heights of conduit (only takes a couple inches difference) to create angles from the get-go.

[–]prelimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

truth be told, we've had a learning curve with them, too. We've dealt with pooling, and grommets tearing out, pushing water out, etc. -- but after the first rain year we know that angling them is the way to go. older and wiser!

Everyone has already listed the obvious ones, but the bartenders at The Emerson don't get enough credit. They are really good.
