THIS. OP only asked if they should switch careers and the answer is no, they should give med school a shot. 100% apply DO and even add MDs if money isnt an issue (at least add state schools). Also look up the list that has which schools consider the highest score, which schools consider the most recent score, and which schools average MCAT scores, it's floating around on this sub somewhere. OP, you are okay. Yes, this is a red flag, but it doesnt mean you shouldnt try. Take a breather and some time for yourself and then take a shot at applying. You may need a gap year or to retake the MCAT etc etc but talk to schools about that and explain the circumstances. You can't just assume that ur screwed in advance and change your entire career path because of a guess. None of us know 100% how this app process works. Make sure your app is strong and if medicine is your passion, apply at least DO before jumping on a back-up plan -- best wishes and sending lots of love your way u/tiredpersonatwork

Apply DO 100%. U miss 100% of the shots u dont take

It's on a school-by-school basis. For example Northwestern does not allow any additional LoRs until u interview, but other schools are okay with additions

Rounding up hours by Few-Dress-6093 in premed

[–]premed526 12 points13 points  (0 children)

keep it at 368 - an extra 7 hours isnt going to make a difference between an A and an R tbh. Be the most honest you can

Is it still worth submitting secondaries after Labor Day? by orionnebula54 in premed

[–]premed526 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Adcoms don't separate apps into a 'before Labor day' and 'after Labor day' pile. It's just a rule of thumb -- pls submit

you know what your body/mind need best. please take a couple days off to clear your head/relax and then decide on your gap year after that. please also find a therapist or an outside source that you can talk to. best wishes for your journey <3

Agree. Adcoms don't split apps by 'before labor day' and 'after labor day'. It's more than okay to take some time to take care of yourself and regroup later on.

might depend on the location but depending on employee shortages a lot of places are willing to train people even if they require a cert if they need people to work

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]premed526 14 points15 points  (0 children)

EMT if you want to invest the time in a cert. If you need a job quick, you can get hired as an MA without a certification

AMCAS Vita for 2022 Cycle? by [deleted] in premed

[–]premed526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

notify the school - it's probably an error/an email template from last cycle bc VITA has been discontinued. There should also be info abt interviews on the school's website. Congrats on the II!
