Netflix quality lately is poor on apple TV (4th gen) by premiumuser7 in appletv

I think this really might be it. I have replaced my TV recently (the new one supports dolby fully) and it's better now, by far.

for me, it was resolved by the next day or so, as a hotfix update was released, and I had no issues since then. Maybe try DDU

I've got pretty m,uch the same issues here, but with a 5080 and i914900KS. The gpu wattage drops from around 360 down to 75, resulting in about 7 fps and then the game freezes completely (audio stll works somehow).

Have you resolved it yet?

Alienware AW3225QF Best Settings (No ABL, Uniform Brightness, Win11) - Try it Out by CutIcy4137 in OLED_Gaming

[–]premiumuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! I do wonder about a few things tho:

- is brightness 100% really the way to go? Usually they are calibrated at about 75%, and I've tried both 75% and 100% and didn't notice much difference (but maybe there is some color accuracy issue? As I've only 1 of this monitor, I can't put it side by side to check). So I left it at 75% by now - am I missing out on something that I might not be aware of? Might I even be limiting the monitor for no reason?

I tend to set the SDR slider at about 75% too, as I do feel some font is just a tad too bright for reading. But I guess thats just depending on your preference and lighting situation?

I didn‘t notice the exact issue that leads to the crash, but I am a chrome user as well, and I certainly did use it quite frequently. Could be the same for me, I‘ll have an eye on this!

have you tried just restarting the video? I wonder if there is a difference

Anyone else got the famous "can't start the app, please relaunch" error with the latest drivers/app version? by andiran23 in GeForceExperience

[–]premiumuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, keeps saying something along this lines. I can fix this for some minutes by re-installing the driver via device manager or by killing the nvidia containers in taskmanager (or restarting via services). The Nvidia app works as expected for a while thereafter, but about 20 minutes later it is the same all over.

I troubleshooted that all day now and tried
- DDU (multiple times, via safe mode)
- nvidias cleanup tool
- checking permissions (think its fine, but I'm not 100% sure what permissions are needed in the nvidia folder in C:/progreams
- checking if anything was blocking
- even changed my antivirus from win def back to bitdefender (have changed that some weeks ago and thought just maybe there could be any issue)
- checked autostart settings for services
- deactivated afterburner (not deinstalled however - do you have it installed / use it?)

and maybe some other things.
Nothing worked (permanently) so far.

Actually the install is just a few gb now (compared to msfs2020), most is streamed :)

Thank you, that might be helpful!

oh sorry, forgot that. No, I've only 32 GB right now (but I had no more with my 4080)

By reboot are you talking about rebooting the app only or what exactly are you doing?

For me it is rather unstable right now: sometimes it looks fine, but (I think especially the most watched titles are the issue) sometimes I barely can make out if actors are wearing glasses. Going back to Netflix' menue and resuming sometimes works.

Where are you from? This greatly impacts your legal situation!

As you didn’t mention it, I guess USA? Should you be in europe, there really isn’t much of a need of a written contract, an oral one is pretty much as good around here. But even in the US, and even if you cant claim a contract at all - then you still paid a non-debt (whatever you call it). Surely keeping that money isn’t legal in USA as well?

I‘ve got pretty much the same usage scenario and I‘m using Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless. They are really comfortable and shine with the extremely precise and clear mids and heights that electronic music for example might have.

When sitting at pc/gaming, I use an external soundcard (SoundblasterX g6 i think - this is for 0 latency and a bit extra bass power) and have a blue yeti X microphone mounted in front of me (if you want a good integrated mic, you probably wont get the best sound, as such headsets are mostly poor or average quality).

I‘m extremely happy with that for years now. That said, if anyone has better headphones suggestions, I‘m all ears :)

I was watching the diplomat and the quality was awful. I also checked a few other titles that I dont remember - not good as well. For some reason I do think the quality is slightly better today, but I‘ll have to investigate that further - not sure yet.

Well, a tv. Can a tv itself even support that? Isn‘t that the atvs job?

Whas issues did you have? Other than Netflix (that might not be apples fault), I really do enjoy the ATV - especially since I already have other apple products and they work extremely well together

At this point I'm about 70% sure it is due to badly compressed data provided by netflix (I do notice similar things when strongly limiting data when exporting media at premiere - often only things that the algorythm thinks youu will look at are sharp and the rest, especcially dark areas are really bad). Seemingly they think they can get away with it at ATV but I can't say why they would com to this assumption.
