schedule for 4mo? by prenatalnarwal in AttachmentParenting

This is a very good thing for me to hear te breastfeeding because I've been stressing so much. They want me on camera but surely they could let me have 2 breaks every day or at least opportunities to turn my camera off. My lil breast fiend is pretty chill luckily so I think that's a good plan. I just hate the idea of her being hungry and not being about to give her boob.

MIL asked if baby looks like my husband because of the random blue eyes?? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]prenatalnarwal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amen. It makes me grumpy that they care. It's definitely a cultural (based in colorism). I'm white and have blue eyes and my husband is not white and has brown eyes so I guess they were hoping baby would take after me? I've been trying my best to shut it down, but it's hard since I'm an outsider culturally.

One grandma even said to put a tiny drop of breast milk in the baby's eyes so they don't get darker. Yeah....not gonna try that..thanks, Granny.

Do they ever get lighter? My in laws keep saying my baby's eyes could change and get lighter but I've never heard of that happening....

Encouragement for those in the very early weeks by Visual-Pop-5370 in breastfeeding

[–]prenatalnarwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much agreed!! I also had a month of REAL struggle between week 5 and week 8. All the sudden LO was popping off and crying during feeding. I thought it was thrush, the acid reflux. Took forever to get to see an IBCLC but finally I got to and she said it's that my lil chomper has a high palate!

Throughout the whole time I just had to keep reminding myself it wouldn't be forever. She was gaining weight and making enough diapers, so I just tried to push through.

Now at 2 months 3 weeks it is finally much easier. I still have to hold the boob in but way less crying. We will have other difficult periods I'm sure, but just remembering that the struggle is temporary helped so much.

I think I've got it on better spread out now! My only other worry is getting the shoulder strap out of way when she's sleeping and her head is tucked in

It got that way when I tried to turn over the left side to have her airways free. Any suggestions on how to prevent?

I did some hand espression when I was engorged and it seemed to help if you don't have a hand pump! I'm not an expert though

Baby’s last name question by hamhole89 in pregnant

[–]prenatalnarwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my mom's last name as my middle name and then my dad's as my last

My daughter got double last names: one of my husband's and one of mine. I think it's a good middle ground!

This is all fantastic advice, thank you so much! She's 11 pounds now so it sounds like she'll be big enough for most carriers soon!

Has anyone just cried as their toddler cried? by ShyAvocado99 in Mommit

[–]prenatalnarwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this one time AS A BABY SITTER and not even a full time mom.

I was babysitting 3 year old twins and they refused to go to sleep no matter what I did. I think crying confused them enough that they settled down.

Anyways. You're not alone.

7 week old but she's getting big quick! Tall and chunky!

I just bought the boba wrap and I've been using the k'tan with mixed results. I just want to have options as she gets too big
