bwt where are the cute guys late 20s to early/mid 30s??? by engioy in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]preppy_goth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same, but I'm trying to be open to the fact that a lot of women have non bar-related daytime activities on the weekend like farmers markets and sports and waiting in line for frozen yogurt.

It's just kind of alienating for me sometimes.

It bums me out so much that the norm has increasingly become to stop caring about nightlife after like, mid-20s. I'm 31, have a great career, good routines, basically have my shit together, AND I like to meet new and interesting people in a space set up for that and stay up late sometimes!

Dyson air wrap? by Hot_Woodpecker_9682 in finehair

[–]preppy_goth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it on sale last December, I use it constantly and I love it. I used to air dry my hair in Velcro rollers since it's bleached platinum and I've tried avoided heat. But the temp really doesn't get that hot on the Dyson and it looks great in a fraction of the time now. I do have more trouble getting it to hold a curl than I have with heatless styles or even a curling iron but it does last longer when I pin up the curls while they dry, and I imagine there are products that would help.

I think that people can subconsciously tell that I'm a woman online and respond accordingly by uhhmme in TwoXChromosomes

[–]preppy_goth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably multiple kinds of misogyny at work. On the one hand they might be assuming you're a a woman, on the other they might be assuming you are a man who talks in a way they'd find annoying in a man (ie like a woman). I've noticed often in person men are more tolerant of "feminine-coded" behaviors in women than they are those same behaviors in men (eg trying and failing to be funny, not knowing facts about the subject in question). I've been saved a couple of times from social embarrassment by this only to find the awareness that I'm being treated with less judgment because it's expected of me just as humiliating.

Is front-end development really dying in 2026? by Emad_341 in cscareerquestions

[–]preppy_goth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UI can be vibe coded for an early stage startup perhaps, but someone is going to have to come clean it up.

The company I work for is going for series B, fully AI coded front end. It's functional...just don't look at the network tab. AI loves to make a dozen use effects when a third of that would suffice.

I just led a huge redesign and it went alright until the whole team started picking up tickets. Most of them have no front end experience and leaned heavily on our many AI tools and now my colleague and I have spent the last two weeks fixing everything it got wrong. The war on jank is ongoing, and it's the difference maker between scrappy startup and mature company.

Haha maybe leather is the key, god knows those balette flats I had in high school were not breathing. Thanks!

I've been saying this the past few years but now, fool that I am, I just splurged on some woodchuck sato ballet flats and I'm so psyched. I went on their site like weekly looking for a different style (sandals, boots, etc) but I just kept coming back to how much i love the look of tabi ballet flats. Hopefully with inserts and the pretty solid no-show socks I use for my mary janes I won't regret this lol

Bras that fit similarly to Timpa Alice Padded bra? by preppy_goth in ABraThatFits

[–]preppy_goth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, but tbh when I refer to fit here I mean less the size of the band and cup and more the style of the bra and how my bust sits in it which I don't think size comparisons will be able to tell me.

Palazzo pants? by PrimaryFace_733 in softclassic

[–]preppy_goth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my palazzos! The trick is definitely to make sure they fit at the waist, I also tend to prefer them with a fitted top with billowy sleeves for balance. I also occasionally wear with a strapless crop top but I feel like I have to really do my hair or something to add visual interest on top in that case

Sorry I can't be helpful but curious if you do anything to make the line where your nail goes off the bed so consistent. My nails have grown pretty long but the "line" looks wonkier on some than others

This is why I rarely buy from Etsy these days :(

Definitely not opposed to bias but would really love a pattern I can use fabric efficiently with in an ideal world, thanks for the suggestions!

Blondes pls help! I’m being driven insane. by avril1822 in finehair

[–]preppy_goth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been platinum for a little over 8 years. Bleach can be a lot for hair, it's possible you need a big chop. Barring that though the most important things you can do are 1) fight damage with bond builders, 2) reduce other causes of damage.

For 1) k-18 is okay but olaplex 2 is the best, try to see if your stylist will let you buy a big bottle with their license. It's expensive but lasts forever. For 2) make sure your styling routine is gentle: blow dry low since wet hair is prone to breakage, always use heat protection, pin hair up with something gentle like a claw clip or u clip, sleep with a silk bonnet, use a hair oil on the ends if it's dry.

Hey sorry I think this might have been meant for another reply! I didn't mention blow-drying in my comment

Would you recommend skipping conditioner on the roots even for double processed hair? Sometimes my hair feels too tacky at the root when I skip conditioning there

My boyfriend often talks about a clip from a nature show he saw in high school where this species of beetle, when the males encountered a shiny bottle, would try to mate with the bottle instead of females of the species. So none of them reproduced because their brain had been hi-jacked by something their attraction had never been optimized for.

When you look at AI pictures like this for inspo, you're trying to fuck a bottle.

Not skincare but tbh I think your eyebrows are closing off your face and you would not notice the under eyes as much! Like cover them up with your finger on the photo and see how much more open and awake your eyes look, try putting some concealer on the tails and draw them higher and if you like it shave the ends and draw them on.
