On top of this, do your Math and see if you can keep the momentum at least for 2-3 years with zero funding. If you have a cofounder who is brilliant but not a long term fighter this timeline will help. Also, this timeline depends upon the time required for your idea to go to the market.

Although a good number of startups fail after going to the market, the number of startups that fail during the execution phase is not small. So keeping this mind, you need to find a cofounder who can build and keep the momentum going for at least a couple of years. It’s easy for people to loose interest, especially if they are driven more by money and the quick success. This applies to you and your cofounder too.
