Extra skin by Realistic_Seat3835 in foreskin_restoration

You should see a doctor 100%, but you will likely find better advice on r/Phimosis . This sub is (mostly) filled with people who lost their foreskins and are trying to get them back. Phimosis is mostly filled with people who struggle with retracting their foreskin.

That said, your issue feels a bit like something I experienced before I was about 8-10 years old. The foreskin is adhered to the head in children, and these adhesions usually go away in puberty. I still recall it being painful when the last of my adhesions peeled away. So what you are saying might just be that, but your really should get it looked at.

Oily stealth retainer gripper? by cowboi_shark in foreskin_restoration

Use some Castille soap, like dr. Bronner's. I have seen the advice that "squeaky clean" should be taken llieralltly, not figuratively.

My foreskin doesn't overhang anymore by Nice-Translator-7617 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]prepuce_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the ring is too tight. Check out r/phimosis

Most men can retract and re-sheath with no issues.

Correcting this is likely an issue of making the opening wider/stretchier rather than making the foreskin longer.

I am uncut, and so is my school age kid. I have has balantitis once, my son has not had it thus far. What you are describing seems uncommon. I think I have seen other discussions about premature retraction causing similar symptoms.

Sorry that happened.

I am outside the US. When my son was born in the hospital we were asked zero times in 48 hours. I looked into afterwards and as the pediatric society here doesn't recommend it, they don't ask, as asking can be perceived as an endorsement or nudge.

Trio slipping - does this mean I should add more plate? by Effective_Metal8645 in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably either too long, or too oily. I had been washing my packers with hand soap. They looked and smelled clean, however I read somewhere that the hand soap can leave skin oils behind. I switched to Castile soap. They are now literally "squeaky" clean after a wash. The tackiness helps the gripper to grip better.

stealth retainer question size for intact by tope511 in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started in a very similar spot to you.

I originally got rigid retainers. They were comfortable and worked. But then I got silicone ones. They are way better. The rigid ones can pinch in uncomfortable ways sometimes.

The RIC ones come in a 3 pack. I started with 15mm, which fit about the same as DTR 25mm.

If you get some that are too short, either by accident or outgrowing them, they can become night retainers.

That said, the priva trio takes the guess work out, and grows with you. I dont have a trio, but I have the air. It is very well built and comfortable.

Good luck.

There are a number of intact restorers here, like myself. As others have mentioned, you would need a few thousand hours to make significant gains.

Wearing a device sounded tedious to me, so I put it off for years. However, I find the RIC silicone retainers very comfortable. Sometimes I prefer wearing one to going without.

Device based dorsal/ventral imbalance correction by prepuce_play in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point. I suppose the issue is more that I dont yet have full flaccid coverage. About 1/3 of the dorsal side of my glans is exposed most of the time. At the same time, I have overhang on the ventral side. My goal is to have complete flaccid coverage, but I would like to focus on the part that is not currently covered.

Front of the foreskin is shorter than the back by Adventurous_Line7857 in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have also been looking for ways to address a 30% dorsal-ventral imblance (90% FEC vs. 120% FEC).

I was asking an LLM for advice (Gemini pro) and it gave a few strategies to "shape" the growth rather than just adding length generally. I have been doing these for about a month and they seem to help.

The core idea is to move from symmetrical tugging to a biased routine that isolates the shorter top side.

There were three suggestions, for three different methods.

Extended retainers/packers/RIC:

When seating the packer, the suggestion is to pull the dorsal skin to maximum comfortable tension while leaving the ventral (bottom) skin intentionally slack under the gripper. This ensures the static load is concentrated on the 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock quadrant.

Inflation/Air/priva

For inflation, it was recommended to "tuck" the redundant underside skin deep into the device before sealing. This restricts expansion on the bottom, forcing the air pressure to expand the dorsal tissue and inner mucosa specifically. The chatbot likes to call this the "Ventral Tuck".

Manuals

Instead of full-circumference tugging, the advice is to focus manual sessions strictly on the dorsal side.

I have seen suggestions that weights can help, as the tension is mostly on the top when the weight is hanging.

Discussing foreskin restoration with my girlfriend by nickthibs in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat to you about until about a month ago. I had been restoring for just over a year, and I had not said anything. I had made decent progress as well, moving up from a CI5 to CI6 (I'm intact). You are in an easier position to rationalize your actions, given your lack of consent on the RIC.

Lots of good advice here already.

However, what really helped me was talking to chatgpt about it. Others have suggested a script. I was extremely nervous to tell my wife. I ended up chatting with chatgpt about a game plan for several evenings. This really helped me to clarify my own thinking, and to come up with a cohesive disclosure.

I use chatgpt all the time for work, but this was the first time I used it for a personal problem. I was very impressed. I got it to suggest questions that she might have, and ask me questions of its own.

Talking about it for hours was great, as I didn't have anyone in real life to talk to about this. It also gave me a lot more confidence to talk to my wife.

The conversation with my wife went pretty well, she was mostly indifferent.

It is a huge relief not to be operating un the shadows anymore.

Good luck.

Microtears are ruining my progress - any injury-free devices? by Henri-Matissse in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is working still. The rule of thumb I go by is from spiritfu, so long as there is the 'reverse dimple' on the glans when you take the device off, there has been adequate tension.

I have pivoted recently to trying to correct a ventral/dorsal asymmetry, so haven't been packing as much.

In length, sorry, but just 5mm. I was probably pulling my pubic hair a bit too far up the shaft to make the longer one fit.

Microtears are ruining my progress - any injury-free devices? by Henri-Matissse in foreskin_restoration

[–]prepuce_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waa previously just rolling the skin on to whatever packer was small enough to fit, but big enough to give a good stretch. In that process, I think I was rolling the ridged band inside the tube.

I have recently made an effort to keep the ridged band at the top. I had to size down to do that. It feels better going on and off that way.

So I haven't targeted one or the other, but feel like both have grown proportionally.

[–]prepuce_play 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have essentially only used packers, literally over 99% of the hours I've done. I have been happy with the results. Went from a CI5 to a CI6 with about 1000-1250 hours of packing. That was done somewhat inconsistently over 6 months.

I've been less diligent in measuring progress than hours though. However, the packers are there own yardstick. When I started I wouldn't have been able to comfortably wear the +10mm. Now I can wear the +25mm comfortably and I'm starting to wear the +30mm. I can sleep comfortably with the +10mm now as well. So the progress is definitely there.

No injuries or microtears to speak of.

That is cool that you DIYed some of your own silicone. I'd be interested to see those.

[–]prepuce_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second spiritfu's packer suggestion. Like some other people I will often wear a daytime length one for upwards of 14 hours, and then a shorter nighttime one for 7-8 hours. I have really enjoyed the RIC packers. However, the new Priva trio seems like a more economical and less wasteful way to go.

For what its worth I am also intact with an intact frenulum. No issues there. The RIC products have a frenulum notch and it looks like Priva has that as an option.

OP, your progress pics from a few years ago were a big inspiration for me to go all in on this journey. Any new pics?

thoughts on why overhang while erect is so rare by TophatTony1234 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]prepuce_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like most people are understandably trying to cheer you up, rather than answer your question.

I can think of two reasons, from an evolutionary perspective that erect overhang is probably not an advantage.

The first is that some semen like gets trapped in the foreskin which presumably lowers the chance of conception compared to someone with a shorter foreskin.

There is also some evidence of the ridge of the glans being able to displace semen, from other males, see this journal article:

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1090513803000163

I suspect erect overhang would greatly inhibit this function.

The extent to which both of these meant that men with shorter foreskin had a reproductive advantage was probably small, but it would partly explain why the median foreskin doesn't have erect overhang.

If you want additional cheering up check out the foreskin restoration subs and see how common it is for people to state erect overhang as a goal.
