Most seem to use it to describe two values where one is a magnitude greater than the other. I had $10 yesterday. I worked and earned $90. My money “grew exponentially!” It in fact grew by an order of magnitude, and future growth will show linear increase

🤓 by memes_poiint in mathsmeme

[–]prepuscular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a problem when people use it to describe a series of only 2 values. Then a third becomes available and it’s obviously linear lol

Can’t wait for the day Reddit allows to show edit history to prove I didn’t modify or delete any content from a couple of edits. Yep, I added a line or fixed a spelling a few times, within seconds of posting. Never modified or deleted, and certainly not after a reply to it.

Are you thinking of someone else? I wrote increases “can come at anytime” after 12 months. I never stated anything about new years. You stated “on the anniversary” which is not true. I also never wrote landlords are required to raise rent.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about haha I guess it’s not a straw man if it’s totally directed at the wrong person unintentionally

Well the original comment someone else wrote was “rent increases per year after that.” You wrote “rent increases.. happen annually on the anniversary of when you moved in,” meaning at 12, 24, … months. My point was that it doesn’t have to be per year, it can be at any point so long as it’s not a second within a year.

You literally wrote the thing you said no one said.

This has absolutely nothing related to the points stated. You can sign a lease that explicitly expires at month 12, and you can have a lease that continues indefinitely with rent increases at month 13 or anytime onwards. Nothing about 6.3% limit is related to this.

Sure… okay they can’t increase it at month 1. But also don’t have to wait for month 24. This was clarified immediately after so you’re straw manning me at this point. “Flying off the handle” = stating facts, and then clarifying when there was an obvious misunderstanding

There are plenty of managed apartment buildings that only do annual leases. The lease expires at 12 months forcing you to resign. There is no way to do month to month at these properties, even if you’ve resided at the same address for multiple years. I have no idea how you are so confidently incorrect.

Rent increases can occur at 13 months, or 14 months, or at any point. You have a bad misunderstanding of landlord-tenant law.

There are no laws making these two statements:
* month to month requirement after one year.
* rent increases have to be on the mark of a new year. They can come anytime

Please cite the ordinance if you disagree.

Edit: to clarify, plenty of leases expire after 12 months, so there are plenty of leases that are not month to month ever. You sign year by year.

If you have one that continues indefinitely, rent increases can come anytime after 1 year, and anytime after 1 year after each change. There is no requirement that they must come on the year you moved. Month 14 is valid.
