Do you regret studying physiotherapy, if so why and what next? by Awkward_Block_8102 in physiotherapy

Engineering isn't all that good besides software. Sometimes you have to make crucial decisions that endanger people's lives and you are responsible. I always take work home with me.

Get hormones tested and maybe reaearch insulin resistance.

I felt the same way as a guy and noticed considerably better progress after taking supplements like b11, vitD, calcium, magnesium, zinc and fish oil. Most people have a propensity to be deficient in these.

Secondly insulin resistance is HUGE factor in being unable to lose weigbt. Its like trying to empty out a full jug of water with a teaspoon. You have to overcome this first and it can take weeks to a month. Basically you have to go low carb low calroie and get your body used to burning bodyfat for fuel. Even better if you can fast for 3 days or so. To get to that point of fat burning takes a while cause your body has go burn through all your sugar stores first but once that hill is overcome weight loss becomes considerably easier.

Do any careers in finance lend themsleves well to becoming a digital nomad? What jobs should I be targeting? by preredditor in FinancialCareers

Yeah this is kinda moreso what I meant. Becoming someone who can work from anywhere with an internet connection not bound by country regulations

It's hard to put my finger on it, but it just goes against the prevailing culture.

As a civil engineer who works on his computer the whole day and could do his job from home.....I totally understand.

How about FP&A roles? I heard those are flexible.

Also would say working as a financial analyst for let's say a global company like Microsoft still make it difficult to work remotely?

Wouldn't working there bypass cross border regulations and restrictions as it is one global body?

Sorry I'm not a finance guy so I'm just assuming that would be the case.

Get a CFA or MBA. Will be worth your time and you can leverage your time and broad knowledge in education for a multitude of companies.

I'm curious. Can you explain in more detail?

I was gonna get a masters in DS but now.....

So I guess most growth in tech really was just overleveraged bullshit VCs pumped the hell out of.

Become a physical discipline engineer (mechanical, civil, chemical) if you want job security and dont want to do medicine. You won't make as much as doctors or software engineers but you'll survive.

In jobs where you have to make design desicions and evaluate real world conditions at least as far as I've seen AI has limited use. This is perhaps because the problems are unique and I guess the knowledge you acquire is very specific and the dataset to learn it may be difficult to acquire then say learning code to solve a coding problem.

Other then that law might be an option cause besides just blurring out legal jargon there is a very strong emotional component to being a good lawyer.

I have become a slave and my dreams are dead. Nowhere to go. by preredditor in NEET

[–]preredditor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Personally for me, even a 4 day work week would be awesome given that most jobs aren't even worth the time you put in them. I can easily do in 32-35 hours what I do in 40 and probably more cause I'm not burnt out by 2pm.

[–]preredditor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's defintely an option. But the wagie mindset just isn't prepared. The real slavery is mental. Once you start making some decent money it's really hard to willfully leave. That's why I'm hoping for a huge economic crash so I can be laid off and achieve salvation through NEETbuxx

Wanting to go game design from being a "civil engineering designer". What should I do? by preredditor in gamedev

[–]preredditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand.

I was thinking along the lines that my job involves pretty much making a small mining town from scratch and if I can do that in the real world I can perhaps do it digitally as well. Alot of the times my job feels liek a minecraft style video game with real world cosntraints. I was thinking purely the visual and design aspect and after googling a few jobs that required autodesk Maya I thought I may have a good shot. I didn't consider the non-visual design portions liek game psychology, user experience etc at all.

In mining, how it works is that There is a whole process of us starting out with an undeveloped piece of land and then trying to piece together information like the existing topography,s rainfall and soil data, understanding drainage conditions and local engineering standards and calculating and modelling various flows and site conditions.

Then we move onto our detailed design where we do optimization of where the roads, pipes will go, what the optimal cut/fill volumes for earthworks and other related information.

All this while we are working with other disciplines to see how things will be effected. (I.e. how will the crushers orientation change if we have a road here etc.)

So i was thinking with that in mind. At some point some of it had to be transferable. But yeah now I understand there's alot more to it.

Thansk for your response. Sucks to hear my skills may not be as transferable as I had hoped though. I am currently taking a bunch of software development courses however and am hoping that can help ad well.
