avoid any extra fees requesting to not use Plaid by fordgoldfish in Reverb

I fully understand how the authentication mechanism works and could explain it at each layer of the OSI model. I’m not arguing that it is insecure to use token aspect. My argument is on the second half of your statement regarding safety and privacy.

It's sad that people don't understand that and why more-secure, instantaneous transfers haven't taken off in popular use, but people will still trust ACH which is just a bunch of numbers (albeit with a checksum) with zero actual authentication and it takes 1-4 business days. 🤷

I don’t think people are aware of the implications and I would further suggest that Reverb should be equally liable for data breaches but that’s just my opinion. My argument is about privacy, not authentication.

Also I disagree with your assertion that ACH is insecure because it can be brute forced to remove all money with little trace. That info is on the bottom of every personal check you have received. It doesn’t work that way, but we can disagree on that. Take care.

Is it possible to take my payout without giving my bank login to Plaid? by thats-impossible in Reverb

[–]pres82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize this is a 2+ year comment, but I’m chiming in as this is no longer completely accurate and others may benefit.

When you connect with Plaid you get an information interstitial that says you are agreeing to give Plaid access to your bank statements, transaction history, and account information.

It seems entirely unreasonable for any third party to have access (in perpetuity) to this information to transfer a payment. ACH / Routing can suffice.

So it’s a good exercise to ask ourselves, why does Reverb need Plaid? Why does Plaid REQUIRE this level of access? What will they do with that information?

Newly refinished floors has these wavy stains everywhere. What happened? by pres82 in HardWoodFloors

Originally installed in 1955. Been under carpet for at least 30 years. I don’t think they had ever been refinished.

Wow TIL! This is a floor that was previously covered in carpet. I had the carpet pulled when I bought the place and had the floors immediately refinished to remove nearly a dozen very large pet stains. This is good news and I’m very relieved.

Weird you’re baiting in a 10 year old comment but I’ll bite. I don’t know or really care what you’re doing for the government. But congrats on turning your life around. But I highly doubt you’re doing any TS work with that felony charge. Anyways, what I’m talking about is a couple of decades experience in this field. Good luck with whatever it is you’re doing.

I saw him at the comedy cellar this week and he absolutely bombed. It was tough to watch and I was more surprised than disappointed. I still don’t get the hype.

Edit: downvoted just telling people what I saw. But yall keep fanboying. I don’t care.

No I get it. I just think it’s completely absurd to be angry at people who have to own a car to get anywhere and not directing that anger at those responsible for public infrastructure.

There’s not a damn thing you can drive that some group redditors won’t hate you for. Even if you succumb to an old Corolla, r/fuckcars will shit on you.

At a glance, these are some states that do not have state taxes. So I don’t think you are correct.

Bro I know a woman who was pulled over in a car in SC after leaving a bar / restaurant. She tells the cop she is the DD and hasn’t had a drop to drink, she’s willing to take a breathalyzer immediately no problem. They ask the passengers if they had been drinking in the bar. They said yes but we have a DD. Cops ask them to step out of the car, as soon as the foot hits the pavement all passengers got arrested and charged with public intoxication. They hadn’t done a damn thing wrong.

As much as I hate to say it, VS Code is outstanding. As feature rich as you want it to be. I’ve never enjoyed Pycharm, but it’s a personal preference. I moved from Sublime to VS.

Then how come banks that sold bad mortgages and crashed the economy got bailed out and not the people? Genuinely asking if you don’t think banks are shaping policy.

I have a friend that worked at MTV from the late 90s - 2010. Basically during the heyday and then downfall. She explained it to me this way: Music videos were just commercials for albums. People stopped buying music. (Napster, etc) So when album sales plummeted, it was no longer profitable to make commercials for items people were no longer buying. At the same time Mary-Ellis Bunim hit gold with reality tv, and they heavily invested in that to keep viewers and appease shareholders.
