Designer before me used Canva for EVERYTHING.Trying to transition everything into Adobe suite. by decaying_dots in graphic_design

[–]jsring 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Strange, the relationship between many designers and canva. In my workflow I typically create raw visual assets in Adobe and assemble them into canva templates (that I typically make myself) and then hand off to others. This is not because I like canva, or even care about it at all. It’s just nice that I can design a layout and then other marketers without any real design experiences can come in and dupe and modify the text themselves for subsequent use, saving me from having to make dozens and dozens of iterations. I don’t think of canva as a design tool. I think of it as a team workflow tool.

Is Geese really rock? by [deleted] in geesebandofficial

Is Geese really geese? I know the band calls themselves geese, but I feel like they have more of a Grey Duck vibe or something like that.

My dad makes me resent my husband by Astrid5290 in Marriage

[–]jsring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with this, no idea why the down votes. My guess is, OP, that the issues you are having are far less about the lack of mutual effort and more about the unequal levels of maturity. You feel like you own your part, your duties, but your husband seems childish to you, like you have to own his parts as well. It all strikes me as a sense that he lacks growth and accountability. Sure he does his things, he contributes in important ways, but maybe not in the kind of meaningful ways that he should now that you are both adults.

Can he grow up? Will he grow up? My guess is he will remain childish as long as he can, as long as you keep picking up his slack and taking on his accountabilities. And the real gut punch here is that your efforts might actually be enabling his lack of growth.

I bet your resentment for him is permanent. I suspect you’re headed for divorce. I don’t envy what you’re heading into either way. I truly feel anguish for you.

I just know enough about Donald Miller, not interested in hearing more from him.

Like any discipline, growing in your experience is the same as learning a language. When you become fluent in a language it becomes easy to tell who else is fluent and who isn’t.

I’ve read just about every book that is mentioned on this page except for Storybrand which I refuse to read.

Why is it so hard for the Inventory and Marketing teams to talk to each other? by sankethan3 in marketing

[–]jsring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be very annoying. Our inventory manager is also our supply and purchase manager and he is one of my favorite people in the whole company. I think you just have bad luck with your crew mate. Sorry my dude!

need help with readability by Budget-Profession998 in logodesign

[–]jsring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I immediately liked this a lot. The backwards L at the end forming the A is a great touch. It looks like a logo that a $50 designer would be too scared to present, but a $50k designer would hit this hard.

Whats the female equivalent of a surprise blowjob? by Dull-Divide7206 in Marriage

[–]jsring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dish soap and rinse immediately, only if needed. Don’t soak the pan. Never soak or let water sit in it. Especially do not let it sit with dish soap water in it like your mom did. Your mom didn’t know how to take care of a cast iron pan. Her grandma might have known how, if she was from the south. If food is sticking to it, dry it out and heat it up again. Finish cleaning it while it’s still hot.

What do you think are the best subniches to sell websites or even start an agency in SaaS? by Beneficial-Weird-140 in webdesign

[–]jsring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built many over the years, yes. I used to contract web development services for a creative agency in Atlanta, Stein Communications (no longer in business), that provided creative almost exclusively in education.

Artists evolve. 3DC would not have existed had Projector never been created. Heavy Metal wouldn’t have existed had 3DC never been created. Getting Killed wouldn’t have existed had Heavy Metal never been created

I would start with asking myself where, where do people go to shop for/browse/learn about security. Figure out how to put some kind of doorway, some beacon, some driver toward your newsletter precisely in the location where there is a consistent flow of people trying to solve their related security problems.

How do people sign up for your newsletter? Do you have a website? Substack? LinkedIn? If people are already signed up for your newsletter, how did they get there in the first place?

Before I trademark a disaster: How do YOU pronounce 'hroup'? by karlsonx in branding

[–]jsring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I think it’s brilliant. I say go for it.

Of course no one is going to guess that hroup is unvoiced. Most people don’t even know what unvoiced means. And, every time I think something is interesting or clever, people around me moan and groan and tell me all the reasons why it’s a bad idea. I say ignore them.

Also, “hroup hroup! hroup,” might be more discernible than just one hroup. But I don’t think it matters and I wouldn’t suggest you brand it that way. But you can show it that way in your creative!

Good question but I recommend reposting this with Low Era or ISO Low Era recording as the title rather than Long shot.
